We bought a Whistle after poor customer support on another brand of GPS. What a difference in quality and customer service! We had issues with the device that connects to the dog’s collar after a couple of months, but customer service was good. I finally figured out that the safest wsy to keep the device on the dog was to buy the Whistle collar. I recommend buying their collar if you want to ensure you keep the GPS on the dog. We are very happy with the Whistle and would buy one again.

Overall I am generally pleased but as an electronics professional see room for improvement. I cannot directly compare to the competition since I have only owned the Whistle. The unit is rugged and no water problems from my dog exploring the pond and creeks. The improved collar mount has remained attached to the collar unlike the original. My dogs like to play rough together and the Whistle has survived. My complaint regards the short battery life. It will not survive 24 hours unless the dog doesn’t move or it is in WiFi range. GPS tracking over cellular drains small battery quickly.

The only thing stopping me from 5 stars is the GPS location is updated at most every 3 minutes per the settings. The other GPS trackers we are testing transmit location every 2-3 seconds. The shorter interval helps when you need to know if the dog is at the front or back or a 10 acre lot instantly, and can track their movements. Otherwise, App is great. Attachment clip, activity tracking and battery all good as well.

The communication via text (chat online) was slow. Even worse, after I agreed to accept text messaging, and finished receiving the answers I wanted, I received scam texts from neighbors looking for sex partners. Be careful. Had to text STOP. After receiving an email I could not go through the emailed link to purchase, so I thought something had got into my phone requiring rebooting.
