The Whistle itself, when it is in operating order, is a fine product. The GPS tracking and activity tracking are exceptional and it provides a nice peace of mind should your pup ever escape. It constantly gets the best reviews online. However, Whistle customer service was of no help when the battery started to falter (lasting less than one full day with minimal time away from home base). For some background, I received the Whistle as a gift. However, the battery life began to falter after 6 months of use. I learned that it had been purchased 2.5 years prior, but it had never been used before to my knowledge. But, I had already signed up for a year subscription, but only 6 months had elapsed before the battery started to falter. I was not offered a refund for the 6 months left, but rather I was informed should the battery be faulty (it is) I would need to buy a new product. Yes, I was given a discount, but for one year of use, I (and the person who bought this as a gift) will have now purchased the product twice. When I brought this to the attention of Whistle Customer Service, they were extremely unhelpful and generally pretty uninterested in finding solutions to my problem. At one point, the Customer Service agent tried to convince me the product was working as intended, losing 14% battery life in less than 8 hours stationed 4 feet from my internet router. Previously, it would take 1-2 days to get to approximately 80% battery life. He then provided me a 20% coupon code to purchase a new one. A nice gesture, but ultimately still $80 plus tax more than I should have paid for this product's useful life. Also, should you get the whistle as a gift, know the warranty (one-year) runs from the date of your purchase--not from the time of first use. While I still recommend the product for its intended purpose, it is only for the fact that there is no viable alternative as far as I am concerned. Should another product come to the market which is better, solely due to my poor experience with customer service at Whistle, I will be trying that product. I am hopeful that in my future interactions with Whistle I will be treated better or I will not be renewing my subscription at the end of the year--no matter the peace of mind provided when it is working.

Hello Rick, Thank you for taking the time to take our Customer Experience survey. We appreciate all the feedback and suggestions we get from our customers and we want to do everything we can to improve your experience. I have taken a look into your account and I can see you have one of our older legacy devices, I can also see you have not reached out to us in a few years. We have since stopped selling anything in regards to the older devices. The only accessories or devices we are currently selling are the Whistle 3 GPS device's. I do apologize for this. We do have options for our customers looking to upgrade from these older devices, If you would be interested in upgrading please reply back to this email and I would be happy to lay out the options for you and help you in the process of upgrading. Or if there is anything else I can do for you at this time please do not hesitate to ask.

I’m EXTREMELY disappointed through no fault of my own, I was forced to pay for and replace a perfectly working Whistle device because of a company change in carrier! A free replacement device, or one certainly off more than 50%, should have been offered to existing account holders. You’d still be getting the monthly service fee! Good PR? Not really.

It’s supposed to update every 6 minutes but it sometimes takes more than an hour to locate device. Maybe it’s at&t that is at fault but this is bad for the cost.

Maybe I can update after the product actually gets in, but right of the bat before you ever get it the customer service is pretty poor. The very top of their site advertises "free 2-3 day shipping". I ordered on a Tuesday and shipping info was generated right away, but there was no activity on the tracking number. I asked customer service, and they said it was still in pre-shipment and to wait another day for them to send it (which he couldn't even say for sure). So that's 3 days before they even send it, which means "free 2-3 shipping" is not a truthful claim.

Slow to update and the battery life is very short.

I had a few pre-sale questions that went unanswered. I tried their "live chat" option, which turns out to be nothing more than an email form with a "we'll get back to you", and I tried their "text us at anytime" - which I did and received no reply. I made the purchase with my questions unanswered as I had a coupon emailed from them that was expiring next day. This is not reflective of the product or service, as I have not experienced it yet, just of the buying process.
