Non Payment Issues
I have, over the past few days, one of the worst experiences with a payment processor I have ever had. I created a campaign on gofundme with the idea of getting start up funds for my business. Unfortunately, I did not research gofundme's payment processor before I created the campaign as I would have probably gone with another service. A day after setting up my campaign I received a sizable donation from a good client of mine. I was elated that the campaign was already off to a good start but then things started going downhill from there. After waiting 3 days for the "payment to be processed" I finally saw the funds in my WePay account. I also noticed that there was a payment deferral placed on the entirety of the funds place in my account. When I tried to contact their customer support via their live chat I connected with a customer service rep named Reggie and explained the immediacy in the need of releasing my funds to my bank account. Reggie then left me a canned response saying that they were going to hold my balance for a full 30 days to protect ME against "charge backs". What other payment processor holds on to funds for 30 days? Seriously? I know very well my merchant account services pays overnight so why, in this digital age, does it take that long to process a payment? When I tried to explain my situation further the chat session was summarily ended and the live chat function on the webpage was disabled for me. So here I am, wondering if I will ever see the funds my client sent to me. I have contacted gofundme themselves to see if there is anything they can do, but as of right now I would say having any dealings with WePay is a risky proposition at best and a nightmare at worst. Daniel Anderson Holy City Computer Services Edit: WePay insisted on keeping my money for an entire month no matter what information I provided them, including an email between me and one of the donors wherein he explicitly mentioned the donation as being something he intended. Ended up having them refund the donor but WePay says it can take up to 5 days for that to go through as well. This is the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I hope other people considering their services find a more reputable company to work with.
