I attempted to pay my contractor through WePay ($4,000+). After WePay withdrew the money from my bank account they decided to close my contractor's account due to some kind of obscure security risk reason. I issued the contractor another check so my work could be completed thinking WePay would quickly refund my money. They are refusing to refund my money and want to hold it for 60 days. I am on a fixed income and this will be depriving me of paying bills or not buying medication. They have been reported to the BBB and Treasury Department's Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Not honest

SCAM
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! I donated $15 to a GoFundMe campaign for a friend of mine but these scammers accused me of lying and not using my real name, address or email address. I Did use my real name, address! It's the same as on my bank statement! They also said I didn't use my real email address but it was VERIFIED by GoFundMe. This is the 3rd time they have done it! They don't know what's going on in their own company! They also haven't returned my money to my account yet! WHERE IS MY MONEY? They will hold it as long as they can to incurre interest on it, that's how they do business! STAY Away unless you want problems!
Response from WePaySep 13, 2018
We're sorry for the trouble here! Please be advised that WePay does not charge interest on transactions. In the event that a payment is failed on WePay's side and the amount was already debited from your account, you can expect to receive your funds back within 3 to 7 business days, as dependent on your card issuer's processing times. Should this not take place within this time frame, please be sure to notify us immediately so we may further assist.

Don't touch this company!
Don't touch this company. After spending time and money setting up the payment system through them for our newly updated shop, which we've been running for 13 years using Worldpay without a single chargeback on that service, we received this terse email from them a few days prior to launch:
"Unfortunately, we can no longer support your business and we'll need to cancel any pending payments.
Because your account is susceptible to a high chargeback or dispute rate, we have to put your remaining balance into reserves for a minimum of 30 days. If your balance goes negative, we'll recover those funds from your bank account. For full details, you can read our Terms of Service.
Thank you for understanding and we apologize that we couldn't offer a better solution.
Sincerely,
Your Ecwid and WePay Teams"
Not sincere at all WePay and totally unprofessional. Not only that, but nonsensical since, so far, you've not processed a single payment for us - we were just about to launch. In a way, it's a relief this happened before launch rather than when the new shop was up and running because it appears they would simply turn our service off, on a whim, without any notice period at all!
Update: The response below is utter garbage - there has been no further explanation and they simply emailed us an almost identical response. Indeed, WePay have made absolutely no attempt to justify or explain their decision or clarify how a company with a proven track record running exactly the same shop for 13 years can be 'high risk'.
The only conclusion I've been able to draw from this is that WePay is not a payment processor at all, but presumably some sort of half way house. I've been unable to gain any clarification from them of their legal status and role. It does appear, however that they are owned by Chase so I can only assume, as they won't tell me, that the decision was taken by some nameless risk assessor in Chase. I rather suspect they completely failed to grasp the nature of the shop - which is to sell supporting products to our long-established customers who are in more than 44 countries.
You would expect any reputable company to be able to justify their decision and/or challenge, on behalf of the customer when a decision taken by a nameless bureaucrat is blatantly stupid. Instead, WePay claim they are powerless, and take no ownership of the decision that they, or their owners have made. To be honest, it's difficult to know for sure what is going on, since WePay are very, very cagey about the application and risk assessment process they use. Open and honest they have not been.
Interestingly, prior to starting my own business, I worked for many, may years in the card payment industry and have a detailed knowledge of card scheme rules and the processes involved in card payments, charge backs and the payment processing industry. I suspect, I have a greater knowledge of the facts relating to card payments than the respondent from WePay who can only use stock answers.
My advice to everyone, including our own business customers in 44 countries remains AVOID!
You might also like to read the independent professional review of WePays customer service on the Card Payment Options website, which seems to vindicate our own recommendation. (Sorry, Trust Pilot doesn't enable you to add links to other reviews.) I wish I'd seen this before!
Response from WePayAug 17, 2018
We're sorry for the trouble here, Rod! Unfortunately, in the event that an account is deemed susceptible to a high chargeback rate, our processor will stop processing for the account. When this happens, the account will need to be closed. We have made sure to reply to your recent outreach in your support ticket, explaining this matter further. While we understand that this is not ideal, we will need to abide by our processor's decision. We apologize again for the inconvenience, and wish you nothing but the best in finding a processor that better suits your needs.

The most unprofessional…
The most unprofessional thing/place/site I’ve ever dealt with. They took my money from another customers payment, then over a month after my customer showed me his credit card has processed payment they were still going into my acct and trying to withdraw money. They obviously don’t have professionals to talk on phone because everything is standard response via e-mail 3-5 days later. This is a Chase company. Glad the government bailed them out so they can keep ripping off the everyday working man.
Response from WePayAug 8, 2018
We're sorry to see this, Matthew! Unfortunately, when a chargeback is filed, it can take some time for us to receive an update from the payer's card issuing bank. Our support team is in the process of obtaining an update for you. Please anticipate follow up as soon as we do.

WePay steals money, lies to customers
Do not use WePay. As a payment processor they allow software to utilize their platform that doesn't work correctly, and their support defaults to lying about it. We use a donation platform that used WePay, and through that platform we needed to cancel all of our recurring donations. We cancelled them all in that system, and that system continued to submit charges to WePay. We contacted WePay who told us they couldn't help with the cancellations, but then the vendor told us that the only way to solve their problem was for WePay to cancel the donations, even though WePay told us they could do nothing. As of this writing, they're still stealing money from our donors regularly (which we then have to individually refund) but we can't terminate our account because if we do that, we lose access to all reporting data which we may need for a future audit. This is incredibly anti-customer behavior not just to me as an organization, but to donors looking to support non-profits. They are literally engaging in theft and lying about methods to solve it. Stay far, far away from any platform that utilizes WePay!
EDIT: This reply from WePay below is comical, and indicative of their disregard for customers. I have told them multiple times that the WeDidIt cancellation tool they referenced literally does not work, and they continue to recommend it and claim they can't solve the problem. WeDidIt tells me that WePay is the only one who can solve the problem, so they're both blaming each other while stealing donor dollars. I doubt the claimed escalation actually means anything - and as one last note to warn any future consumers, in the past I have had to wait *days* for responses from WePay's support to come back to me with their lies, but in a public forum like this they respond within minutes to try and save face. Do. Not. Ever. Use. This. Company!
Response from WePayApr 13, 2018
We're sorry for the trouble here! In the event that you need recurring payments cancelled, this will need to be completed through our partner's platform. Per WeDidIt's Help Center page, they have provided instructions on how to cancel recurring payments, available here: https://wedidit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001958283-Stop-a-Donor-s-Recurring-Donation-
Because you had mentioned having a difficult time reaching resolution, our team has escalated your ticket to see if more can be done for you. Please continue working with us in ticket #1528880.
Thanks so much!

If you guys didn't like me because of…THEY ARE Anti-Semitic and Will be Reported to AIPAC.
If you guys didn't like me because of my heritage to begin with, why didn't you just say "We don't accept JEWS" on the contract user agreement.
I Contacted the representative from ECWID about why our account was disabled, with this email below, (Wix is also Included in this, as they use ECWID and WEPAY all together as a Giant Ponzi scam) *WE are reporting you to Trustpilot right now as "Antisemetic" and we are also reporting to AIPAC, as we have connections to direct lines. I have been discriminated because I am Jewish.
My Reply:
"THERE IS A MAJOR MISTAKE
My customer purchased two items online that we sell in our salon and he is a client to a friend and wanted to support us. He used his debit card to purchase and you guys are saying that there is something like a chargeback "possibility "going on, but we haven’t had any chargebacks nor done anything wrong.
Where have we neglected to follow the user agreement? Can I call someone? We have been in business 29 years and never had a refund or charge back. You guys are making a huge mistake, please can you fix this problem. It has to be on your end, because we haven’t done anything against the user agreement and this client is purchasing to support our website. Can you tell me the legality of this decision please?"
RESPONSE BACK THE FIRST TIME:
"Ecwid Payments has been disabled
Your account was disabled due to excessive chargeback activity. Please choose another payment gateway or contact customer support for additional information."
SIDE NOTE:
(We haven't had a chargeback and they later admit this)
"We haven't had a chargeback at all. So, please correct your mistake. Thank you. "
ECWID REPLY BACK: SECOND TIME:
"Hello ******!
This is Anna with Ecwid team, thank you for the message.
I understand your situation and I'm sorry you've faced the difficulties.
Ecwid Payments is a payment method powered by the payment gateway and our partner, WePay.
I am sorry, but WePay is no longer able to process payments for your account, thus the account has been disabled. Every payment processor has a strict guideline and they have to follow it; because of the proprietary nature of their review process, they are unable to share exact details on why your account was disabled.
I apologize for the frustration caused; although you may consider other payment gateways. The complete list of available payment options can be found here:
If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us again.
Kind regards,
Anna,
Ecwid Customer Care Team."
Unfortunately, we can no longer support your business and we'll need to cancel any pending payments.
More specifically:
Unfortunately, it has been determined through WePay's proprietary review of your merchant account that your business is considered high risk.
Because your account is susceptible to a high chargeback or dispute rate, we have to put your remaining balance into reserves for a minimum of 30 days. If your balance goes negative, we'll recover those funds from your bank account. For full details, you can read our Terms of Service<
Thank you for understanding and we apologize that we couldn't offer a better solution.
Sincerely,
Your Ecwid and WePay Teams
SIDE NOTE:
Okay, but we still haven't done one single thing wrong, except make sales and even shipped them out, but never received our payment to our account. So who do you think is wrong here? Then I realized they profiled me, as a Jewish woman, and when they knew that, they discriminated against me harshly. Continue reading.
My Reply:
See the problem I have with all of this, is that I have been in business for 29 years and have had other card processors with ZERO REFUNDS ISSUED OR CHARGEBACKS. Perfect reviews online and physically doing business locally.
I find it very insulting that for no reason you deem my company "********" as "HIGH RISK".
That is unethical to not give a company chance, in fact we are so honest that we sent that individual his order anyways and we aren't getting paid for it, because your company blocked the order from processing and we went ahead with the order, because we wanted our client to obtain our product, in a timely manner; as this is how we conduct business. We like the clients to receive their items within 2-3 business days. He will give us a 10 star review as he will be happy with what quality we offer. He already received it and we are waiting for his feedback. I AGAIN DID NOT GET PAID, Because you guys blocked the order. His card was good and so was his money. In fact he works in the banking industry, as a teller. So, he finds this very unethical as well, and is aware that you didn't charge him. This puts guilt on my clients and I will remaking sure he knows just what company you guys are.
Because he can report you guys, as I am just an older woman that is victim to this business fraud. I told my son and grandson about this, and they were appalled. I was planning on making the website more intricate as it is very basic, but this doesn't mean we are high risk for chargebacks! That is crazy to even think. You don't give people a chance? How can you guys get a chance at bigger opportunities in life, when this is how you treat an elderly woman.
If there is absolutely no chance of reinstatement, than that is fine, but my clients already are very distraught about this happening to our website, and they are wanting all the information about this situation and how we believe we are being judged or discriminated because we have African Americans working with us and I am an older Jewish woman. We are a unique group of people, but this is the only reason I could ever think of, that would be why you guys disabled our account. THAT IS RACISM And Discrimination. I do have connections to the AntiDefamation League, I don't see any other reason, as I can prove I have been successfully in business for almost 30 years now and this is causing a great deal of stress. If you guys didn't like me because of my heritage to begin with, why didn't you just say "We don't accept JEWS" on the contract user agreement.
I have a very difficult time waking up in the morning with my bad back pains, and it hurts when I have to bend over on the computer screen, for long durations of time. The time this has taken me to type up, is going to affect me strenuously in the morning. Please reconsider us again, we would never let you guys down, can't you just find it in your agreement to accept us once more?
I don't get it, we made our first sale and you guys just disabled us without even giving us a chance. You know that makes us look bad? But that makes you guys look worse, because we have an entire network that comes to my hair salon. I have regulars that come in every week to see me. The people have mentioned it to, laugh about it, and think you guys are joking; but how long have you guys been in business? Perhaps you all are the high risk ones. Maybe your right and I should reconsider even working with a company like this. Why would I want any of my profits to go to your fees.
There must be something you hate about us, is it my website is too gay? Because my Gay friend, put that site together. Are you guys also Homophobic? You all must have voted for you know who too, what a Nightmare to live in 2018 and have to worry about being a Black Jewish woman with a Flaming gay son! Oy vey!
The thing is, we just set up this new website, and thought we could instantly obtain payments, obviously there is a hate vendetta against either me, or my company. This is conflict of interest and ILLEGAL.
So, guess who looks HIGH RISK? Your company looks high risk and IS HIGH RISK. We just had faith that our orders could process with your services, we did nothing wrong and we have been in business longer than your company has been around.
Unbelievable, I know the only reason you guys deem me high risk, has to be because I am jewish.
So, again that is fine if you want to part company for absolutely no reason. I tried to tell you that we are a good company, I can show you how we have paid our taxes for 29 years in business, we rent a business location and have a storefront, we have never had any issues or even problems being in business at physically location or online!
What factors could possibly be included with your " carefully evaluating" process at WEPAY. The only people who are paying, is We are Paying . Because we are missing sales because you guys won't let us get paid. We get Pain in stead! it's WEPAIN! Because I have a major pain in my back now and I am done typing all of this up.
You guys really should think about Evaluating your
"ETHICS DEPARTMENT"
CONCLUSION:
We Never got a phone call back, a email back, or any final reevaluation as they said they would do if they were wrong. How, would you like to make your first sale and have them just cancel/disable your account, based off what someone on the team, "Higher Up", thinks about you on facebook, say your skin color, appearance, or age; I am not sure what they didn't like about me. They clearly went to my facebook or something and judged against me or my business. Again, my company has many amazing reviews and again, we have been in business 29 successfully and with a good ethical and credible reputation. It doesn't look like this company does, however. Many bad Reviews should tell one to not trust your beloved business with the hands of hatefilled dishonest individuals; unprofessional to say the least.
I don't know how these folks business License isn't pulled from them, for misjudging people and ending services, FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. Beware, be Careful...
*Do NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SMALL Dishonest and Discriminatory company.
THEY ARE Anti-Semitic and Will be Reported to AIPAC.
Response from WePayFeb 28, 2018
Our processor holds us to high standards and has rules regarding accounts that are seen as high-risk. If an account is deemed susceptible to a high chargeback or dispute rate, they will stop processing for the account.
Once this happens, we unfortunately are forced to close the account. For more information, you can read our Terms of Service, available here: http://www.wepay.com/legal/terms-of-service. Section 29 explains this in further detail.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and wish you the best of luck finding a payment processor that better suits your needs.
