As a person who has administered health care policies for my employer and employees for decades, I have not worked with a health insurance company as bad as Welcare. The staff is courteous but poorly trained. Communication is extremely poor resulting in a great deal of misinformation. That results in slow processing, denied Claims and suprise billing from providers.

This is the MOST ANNOYING insurance Company I have EVER dealt with! They Are almost CONSTANTLY calling and texting for No REAL reason other than taking up My Time and Raising My Anxiety Level! If I need Anything or have a question...I will call YOU! The Customer service team is generally unknowledgeable about benefits Anyway!!! During 3 different phone conversations, I inquired about getting a PERS(which My Welcome Book CLEARLY States I AM eligible for!). ALL 3 of the Customer service Agents had NO IDEA how to get this benefit and EVEN told Me I had to go to My Dr. And have them recommend the PERS device! 🙄 NOT one of them knew That VRI is the company who I needed to contact to get My PERS. THEN I wasn't able to get the Mobile Version that works away from the house EVEN though it CLEARLY states I can choose that type in My Welcome book! They (VRI) told Me to just use the house Version (which doesn't even work outside in the yard !) for awhile and then They will TRY to get Me the Mobile one MY BOOK SAYS I CAN CHOOSE! 🤔😕🤔 I have ALOT of other negative things I COULD say, buuuuut I will just end it here by saying that Wellcare is VERY Annoying and Unprofessional in MANY ways!!! I give 2 stars instead of 1 ONLY because I haven't had ANY issues with them paying for My Medical Bills. REALLY I WOULD rate Customer Service and ALL of the annoyingly harassing calls and texts 0 Stars IF I COULD tho! 💯😀💯

I'm very grateful for the card and I can use it at Walgreens Frys and Target pretty well but Safeway CVS and Walmart are a bust, Wellcares online catalog is a disgrace the worst lineup of vitamins and other items that I've ever seen. I've been able to get a greens, protein powder, creatine, Lyons Maine heart chews,at the ones that do accept the card but the other ones I listed above are a bust.

The Wellcare site using my login quotes an estimate for a medication at the preferred pharmacy for $238. The preferred pharmacy submits the medication and is told to charge me $700.11. I called the Wellcare phone number on back of membership card and was transferred 5 times to a pharmacy supervisor who tells me the $700.11 is correct and the $238 on the website is wrong. She does apologize for the mistaken information given to me on their website and does not have a reason for the incorrect information.

I'll start off by saying, If I could change my insurance at this point I would! My reasoning has to do with customer service (WellCare). I have contacted customer service over the past couple of years regarding my PCP. insurance I've been a member of WellCare, I believe since 2020, when I initially signed up for WellCare, I input my PCP as the one I had prior to my retirement to Medicare through SSA. I've spoken with a supervisor in customer service over the past couple of years trying to correct the person which they (WellCare) have on my insurance card. The last time I spoke to customer service supervisor, she stated after some time on the phone about an hour, that she had finally gotten everything straightened out and that I would be receiving updated ID cards shortly. That had to have been over three (3) months ago and my account is still showing the same WRONG PCP and still no updated ID cards. The last time I spoke with this supervisor was during the last open enrollment period last year in October 2025. WellCare has access to my commutations with this so-called supervisor to validate our conversation if needed. If I'm in need of my PCP for any emergency, they would not know who to get a hold of, this is unacceptable and I will be updating my coverage with someone else next enrollment period. "No professionalism at all", WellCare is no Care for its customers.

My claims were paid during the 2 years they insured me, but what drove me crazy up until the last day of coverage (today) were the countless spam calls from the company. They kept trying to get medical information from me, tried several times to schedule an in-home visit with me, and even hounded my doctor with emails telling her which tests they thought I should have. Intrusive, annoying and unprofessional, no respect for the people they insure. I told them many times not to call me, but they kept on.

I had a very bad experience with the WellCare Health Plans website. The website is slow, the information is incomplete, and it takes a long time to get support

Have been using them less than a year. Premiums are not bad, and my medicines are cheap. However, I was being charged an $8.00/month penalty, and no one at WellCare could tell me why (my HR department submitted the paperwork). This was eight or nine months ago, and I went ahead and paid it under threat of coverage being dropped. I just renewed coverage and paid the full year. I could not access my online account and by the time I talked to the third person this was not something they could fix. I paid with a credit card in full for the year so I would not have to deal with it. Also, my penalty increased to $8.50, and I suspect will increase each year until I die. I am going to contact Medicare and see if they can give me the reason. It is upsetting because I felt I did everything possible to avoid this very situation.
