If you need a COVID PCR test for travel, DO NOT get it at Walgreens. My family and I got our COVID test at Walgreens Rockland, Maine on the morning of August 18, 2021, in advance of a planned trip into Canada the evening of August 20. That is within the Canadian limit of COVID tests must have been taken within 72 hours of your border crossing. The Walgreens lab testing partner site indicated PCR tests were coming back in 1-2 days, so we thought we'd be fine. The person administering the test at Walgreens was unfriendly and told us incorrectly that someone would call us when results were available (they're e-mailed unless positive). We initially just delayed our border crossing as we didn't get the results in time, tried many times unsuccessfully to call the Rockland pharmacy only to be hung up on each time, had to book separate hotel reservations near the border and in the end it took FOUR DAYS to get the PCR results, which was beyond the window allowed by Canadian border requirements for US citizens! So frustrating and unacceptable from the attitude, lack of contact, false information, and eventually we were never able to cross the border and lost the paid reservations we had in Canada. I will use only a state testing site directly next time. It was an expensive and disappointing lesson.

Do NOT take your COVID-19 test at…
Do NOT take your COVID-19 test at Walgreens
I took my COVID-19 at Walgreens. Per instruction and Walgreens technician, I should receive results with 2 to 3 days for results via email or online at
patientportal.aegislabs.com
It has been FOUR DAYS and laboratory have not received my sample.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Sample xxxxxxxx has not been received at our laboratory.
Samples are typically shipped via overnight delivery to the laboratory.
Shipping delays and weekend shipping schedules may delay receipt in the laboratory
(Sat/Sun collections are most likely to be delayed beyond next day delivery)
Please allow for transit time and check back later or verify the requisition number.
Samples received greater than 30 days ago are no longer available on this portal.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contacted laboratory - ( after 1 hour and 15 minutes wait time)- I was told “Walgreens DOES NOT overnight samples and you may receive your results within 3-5 business days after we receive the samples”
Please do not make same mistakes as I did. Select more reputable location for COVID testing.

Dont order online for curbside pickup.
I thought I may have covid-19 so I ordered online because I didn't want to come in the store just in case I really have covid-19. They promise to have the order ready for pick up within 30 minutes but I received a message saying it's delayed. So I waited a few hours but never heard from them again. I had to call to cancel the order before they close the store because they are holding up my money but they never delivered Anyhow, I never got the medicines that I needed as a result of ordering on Walgreens.com. If you need your medicines badly don't order it on walgreens.com for curbside pickup. It's Useless and they have rude customer service.

Had to reschedule diagnostic testing due to their failures
Doctor requested a covid test, but their office was closing soon. Went to the Walgreens at 4003 W Vernon Ave in Kinston, NC to be tested. Arrived at 10:10 a.m. for a 10:15 covid test. Line was 8 cars long, arrived at pharmacy drive through window after 11:00. Followed all instructions, received paperwork stating 2 to 3 days for results. Was verbally told 2 to 3 days on Sunday 8/22/21 by technician at window as well.
I had 3 diagnostic tests at the hospital and a doctor's appointment with my pulmonologist scheduled for Thursday, August 26th.
On Wednesday I called Walgreens because my results still were not available. The first person I spoke with in the pharmacy said they just found out today, August 25th, that the lab was running behind. Not an acceptable answer when I have it in writing that I would know in 2 to 3 days. Then I spoke with a supervisor. She told me that they had known since Monday, August 23, that the results would be delayed, yet they failed to contact me so that I could schedule a rapid test to have results before my 3 diagnostic tests at the hospital and the drs appointment on Thursday (which I had indicated to Walgreens on Sunday and again today).
I told her that was an unacceptable answer, and that the previous employee lied to me and told me they found out about the delays today. I asked the supervisor for her name and she hung up. She called back and told me the results won't be in until Friday 8/27 at the earliest because THE LAB HAD JUST RECEIVED MY TEST - THE ONE THAT WAS TAKEN ON SUNDAY.
Now I have to cancel ALL of my testing at the hospital and my doctor appointment as well.
I did not chose the lab that Walgreens contracted with, Walgreens did. This is WALGREENS' problem, and their poor choice, not mine. Yet I have to miss crucial diagnostic appointments (these are not elective, but for a seizure disorder and lung function issues) because it is too late for me to get a rapid test, although I could have scheduled one with my doctor's office or another pharmacy if Walgreens had let me know on Monday 8/23 that there were 3 to 5 day delays and that they hadn't even sent my test to the lab yet.
I'm furious and now have to reschedule all of my appointments, wait even longer for proper treatment of my seizures and lung issues when there's a 50/50 chance that my test results are negative.
Covid has affected everyone and every business. I understand that.
But Walgreens contracted with a lab of their choosing, not mine. And they chose not to notify me on Monday 8/23 that my results would be delayed beyond the date of my hospital and doctors appointment. That is completely their fault, and there will be financial and social repercussions for their failures.

Every time I go to pick up a…
Every time I go to pick up a prescription, it is an issue. I was called that I had one to pick up, so I called to confirm. Got there this morning and a blank look on the cashier's face. Nothing for me ready. I said I talked to someone yesterday to confirm I was going to pick it up. I was told it must have been a technician (and because there are several, no one knows who called me). 2 weeks ago I stopped to get a physician's called in prescription for my husband. No record of him and they wondered if he had changed insurance. Perhaps he had just turned 65? We have gotten prescriptions there before, but again the blank look on the cashier-and a hassle to go out to the car to get the HMO Medicare card that was in my husbands wallet.
My blood pressure goes up every time and not one person takes responsibility for how the pharmacy works or doesn't. It was Rite Aid before Walgreens and for 40 years there was never a problem picking up a prescription. I know I am not the only dissatisfied customer. Time to check around for someone else.

Discussed
I'm a Walgreens customer and call in meds as part of my job at a Specilty clinic. Both of these experiences has been a huge pain.
As a customer they can not seem to find a prescription that has been sent in multiple times, and I've had to call the clinic - same one I work at multiple times to get them to find it.
As a medical professional the same has happened, I've called in scripts that magically disappear or are sent out wrong.
What bothers me more than anything is waiting on the phone for seemingly an hour only to hear every 10 seconds "We will be right with you".
With this said, I Do Not blame the staff - one visit to my pharmacy clearly showes they are over worked and struggling to keep up with the work load, It's little wonder they make mistakes.

Rude never pays
So, I went to the Wallgreens on Bardstown Rd and walked up to the pharmacy desk.
They were waiting on a lady so I was second in line.
Another pharmacist walked over and said sir we closed at 6 PM.... the time 6:05.
She was very matter of fact and gave me a look like don’t even try. I looked very surprised and said, You closes at 6?!?
Another matter of fact-don’t even try- “closed sir.”
I walked back to the front of the store and checked the front door...
Pharmacy hours 8am-10pm
I walked back in and commented to the cashier in the front of the store your sign says 10pm for Pharmacy....? (I was polite)
She had a condescending look, and with a smirk she said, “it’s 6”
I repeated in defense, your sign says Pharmacy hours 8am-10pm....
Her tone changed now to you’re an idiot ..... again- “it’s 6!”
Now I’m insulted by her talking down to me. “ that’s not what the sign says.
Then she said, “it’s posted lower on the door.”
I walked back out, and sure enough, down around my knees was another poorly placed sign, 6pm.
So the sign at eye level was 10pm but the sign down around my knees listed a change highlighted in dark red which made it very hard to read in the first place....
Ok, I’m sorry, I should have known that you would have multiple pages taped to the front doors with differing times.
I’m also sorry that I took the sign at eye level as the most current... I shouldn’t have stopped reading all of the door literature until I was on my knees.
You had every right to be condescending and rude to a regular patron.....
Suggestion:
1. When you make major change to when people can pick up their much needed prescriptions, make it highly visible about a month in advance.
2. Be kind to those who missed the sign, we might be a little more educated than you give credit for.
In fact, we might make a great deal more income than a front register cashier......
As for me, it’s ok, I don’t mind driving a few more blocks to your competitor.
You don’t own my prescription, I’m having my doctor resend it elsewhere.
