Choosing where to continue my education was a major decision, and Walden University made that choice easy from day one. When I first applied, my Enrollment Specialist, Rolando, set an incredible foundation. He took the time to truly listen to my goals, asked thoughtful questions, and laid out transparent expectations. There was never a pushy sales pitch- I felt respected and valued as a human being. As I wrap up my first course, "Thriving in a Tech World," I can genuinely say that positive experience carried straight into the classroom. My instructor, Luke Konrath, read my work with genuine intent to understand my educational, personal and professional experiences. His high-quality video feedback and thoughtful comments consistently left me inspired, excited, and confident in sharing my goals. His encouragement pushed me to think bigger and stretch my abilities throughout the term. The support behind the scenes has been just as outstanding. Esma in Financial Aid went above and beyond through calls and emails to ensure I completely understood the financial aid process and had total clarity. My student advisor, Luiz, reached out to make sure I was mentally and emotionally prepared, reminding me that he is always present whenever I need guidance. Every person I have encountered communicates at the highest level to ensure students succeed. Choosing Walden University was truly an answered prayer!

So far, so good. Comparing my experience here and my previous university, Walden seems really intentional in helping students succeed - with great resources and a beautiful and easy online classroom.

The flexibility of the online format and the layout of the student portal make managing coursework alongside full-time work commitments highly manageable. Additionally, having direct access to dedicated support systems specifically the Academic Skills Center and writing layout resources which provides invaluable guidance when navigating complex assignments and academic formatting requirements. Walden excels at structuring an environment tailored for working professionals. The OASIS portal and classroom platforms are generally intuitive, allowing for seamless navigation between weekly modules, discussions, and grades. The university also does an excellent job of providing robust digital library access and tutoring resources that are vital for independent, remote learning.

What made my experience at Walden University great is the strong support system for new graduate students. The faculty members are responsive and provide detailed feedback that helps me grow as a scholar-practitioner. Walden is doing well in several areas. Flexibility: Its online platforms provide a balance between my studies, work, and family. Resources: The writing center, library, and academic skills center are very helpful for APA style and scholarly writing. Mission-driven learning: The emphasis on diversity and positive social change makes learning meaningful and connected to real-world impact.

At Walden, the professors are with you every step of the way. They give you feedback on your assignments and are very involved each week. They respect each student--they help to guide us...I am glad I chose Walden. I won't only have a degree when I graduate...I will also be licensed and certified in social work!

I came to Walden as an older adult looking to increase my earning capacity through a meaningful career change. With only an associate degree, I began my social work journey in Walden’s BSW program in 2023. I completed the program in two years while continuing to work full-time. Walden’s online platform made it possible for me to balance work, school, and my personal responsibilities. The flexibility allowed me to complete assignments at my own pace while still meeting deadlines. I especially loved the Skills Lab, which helped me build confidence and apply what I was learning in practical ways. After completing my BSW, I transferred into Walden’s Advanced Standing fast-track MSW program and completed it in just one year, graduating in May 2026. By August 2026, I had achieved the professional promotion I had been working toward for the past three years. Today, my work feels meaningful, and I feel respected by my peers. My salary has increased by $35,000, in addition to bonuses, through my work in social work within correctional environments. My experience at Walden has prepared me to serve people in my community who are at risk of recidivism while also helping me increase my earning capacity and improve my family’s financial situation. Walden gave me the education, flexibility, and preparation to make a significant career change at a later stage in life. I cannot recommend Walden enough, especially for those who are disciplined, motivated, and willing to make their time here meaningful. The investment has been life-changing for me—professionally, personally, and financially.
