Very unreliable / recordings lost
Very unreliable. Many recordings simply disappear or can’t upload and then are gone the next time I open the app, no saving on the device apparently.

Voicenotes is an intelligent note-taker that lets you record notes and meetings freely, transcribes in 100+ languages, and has a built-in AI that remembers and retrives anything you have ever recorded, transforming the app into your second brain.

Frustratingly difficult to learn how to use.

Terrible customer service, the pen didn't work, and they wouldn't give me a solution or a refund.

Annoyed
I was invoiced 1 hour and 14 minutes before I was charged $99.99 for an annual subscription. At 10:46pm they emailed, so no time to cancel since I was already asleep at that time. Terrible deceitful business practice. Most reputable businesses would not do this, especially in an industry where you would thrive. I have sent several emails requesting a refund with no response.

To clarify, your card was only charged after your free trial ended. When you start a trial, it’s clearly mentioned that the plan renews automatically unless canceled before the trial period ends. The invoice you’re referring to is sent automatically by Stripe (our payment processor) - not by Voicenotes - and is a record of the completed charge, not a notice in advance. That said, we completely understand that things can be missed, and we have a generous refund policy in place. We’re happy to offer a full refund as long as the account has used under 6 hours of transcription and it’s within 14 days of payment. Please reach out to [email protected] with your account details so our team can review and process it promptly.

I signed up for a trial with Voicenotes in August to test their meeting transcription service, but I ended up not using it at all. Since then, I’ve contacted customer support multiple times with a simple request: cancel my subscription and refund the charges. Responses have been delayed, inconsistent, and unhelpful. The subscription continued for three full months, and they were unable to stop it until October. Eventually, someone on chat support told me they would only refund the last two payments, without offering any explanation. In total, they’ve charged me around €37, and at no point was I able to manage or cancel my subscription myself through the platform. Canceling is extremely difficult, and the customer support experience has been chaotic. This makes the service feel more like a scam than a legitimate online tool. I’m still requesting a full refund, with no success. Avoid this website at all costs. EDIT AFTER ANSWER BY VOICENOTES: They refused to refund me simply because my first cancellation request came from a different email. The irony is that this email was the same as the billing email shown on my payment receipts, so they clearly knew it was me—even they later confirmed both accounts were mine, saw all the receipts I sent, and admitted the charges were real. It took them three months to even resolve the issue, and while they finally stopped the subscription, they still kept my money for a service I never used. I didn’t even log in once. So apparently, to cancel a subscription on their website you must go through customer support, because making it simple would be too honest. There is literally NO way to cancel it yourself. And this “brilliant” support team took three months just to figure out I had used the wrong email, even though I provided receipts and proof from the start. They finally stopped the charges, but of course, no refund. That’s not customer service, it’s theft disguised as bureaucracy. AVOID THIS SCAM SERVICE—SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR PEACE OF MIND.

Hey, this isn’t exactly what happened. After reviewing your case, we found that the confusion came from your end - you were using a different email address to cancel the subscription than the one linked to your Voicenotes account. Our team helped identify the correct account and canceled your subscription as soon as that was clarified. Subscription cancellation can be done at any time, and the process is clearly explained in our help article (https://help.voicenotes.com/en/articles/12382105-how-to-cancel-your-voicenotes-subscription) You can cancel directly from the app or the web, depending on where you subscribed. As a courtesy, we also issued a refund for two weeks - even though you were on a weekly plan, which isn’t covered under our refund policy. Our policy applies to monthly and yearly subscriptions only, but we made an exception to resolve the situation fairly. Not using a service is not a valid reason for a full refund, as software subscriptions renew automatically until canceled by the user. Users are expected to cancel their subscription when they no longer need it, rather than demanding a refund for the time they were on an active subscription but didn't use it. This is not a scam - it’s standard subscription practice, and we’ve already gone beyond policy to assist you. There’s nothing further we can do in this case.

Inaccurate and overly cumbersome service: I wasn’t even able to transcribe a simple menu, just because it doesn’t handle line breaks. But the worst part of all is the customer service: I’ve been trying to contact them in every possible way since June, and there’s absolutely no way to get a reply. Not via WhatsApp, not via email (I wrote multiple times both to info@ and to team@), not even through 'Report an issue'. I paid for 3 months (by the way, unsubscribing is extremely difficult and totally counterintuitive), and the receipt only shows my first and last name—no details, no VAT number, nothing at all… I’ve never seen such disastrous support from an app.

VoiceNotes is a great idea, poorly executed and, worse, terribly managed when it comes to customer service. I subscribed to the annual plan expecting a reliable, AI-powered note-taking platform. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from that. I’ve had several issues, but the worst happened recently: nearly all my recordings and notes from the past few months disappeared, including important meeting content and project ideas. When I contacted support, their response was vague and unhelpful. They simply said the notes couldn’t be recovered and that they would “try to replicate the issue.” That’s it — no real solution. What’s most frustrating is that I lost content I never deleted, and now there's no way to get it back. The app not only fails to do what it promises, but it also puts your work at risk. If you value your ideas, your time, and your work, don’t subscribe to this app. I trusted it, I paid, and I lost.

We're really sorry to hear about your experience. After investigating your account, we found that the missing notes had been manually deleted from the user side. Voicenotes does not delete user content automatically — deletion can only be triggered through explicit user action. In line with our privacy policy, once a note is deleted by a user, it's permanently removed from our servers and cannot be recovered. We found no evidence of auto-deletion or any app behaviour that would remove notes without user input. We absolutely understand how critical your notes are and regret that this caused so much frustration. We’re continuing to invest heavily in reliability and safeguards, and we remain committed to transparency and trust for every user.
