Kicked back my 2 kids Birth Certificate request forms twice for nonsense reasons. I got the vital records authorization form notarized (2 of them, 25 dollars each). VitalChek kicks it back saying the stamp name doesn't match the name written for the notary. I called and complained to customer support and said that they couldn't quite make out the name and wanted the notarer to write more legibly. So now I'm down another 50 dollars. Absolutely the scummiest thing that's happened to me in a while.

If I could give them a zero I would
If I could give them a zero I would ! They are awful I requested a birth certificate for my mother because she just wanted it for her records so since she doesn't know not to do it online she asked me to. So I did so it was quick to withdraw the money which was about 16 bucks plus a pending fee of a dollar and change, they have the option to cancel but supposedly they won't return your money because supposedly it's a processing fee that is non refundable which is crazy to me because I wanted to cancel because she needed more information so because of that they made this such a big issue and I get it but like seriously I have been emailing them and I get email back saying she has to call etc which she has! And they email back saying she has to like don't you people have that on record that she spoke to someone about canceling it's so annoying that I have sent like 5 emails and I get the same response I don't recommend this company at all!!!!!! Awful!!

Only giving one star because I have to
Only giving one star because I have to. This place is a total scam. They charge all kinds of fees and then will tell you it’s non-refundable, even when they don’t provide you with a document. Total scam !!

Website information about ordering a…
Website information about ordering a birth certificate online from New York City is completely misleading. They emailed me after a month telling me they needed more information. I called and held for 27 minutes before being told that they couldn’t find my birth certificate. That’s interesting because I ordered one about 5-6 years ago before I had to use these clowns. The representative was completely unhelpful but I continued to press had and told her how confusing their website was about ordering a New York City certificate. The website takes you in circles and it does state to use them to get your certificate. The representative acknowledged that the website was difficult and she basically told me that they won’t give me a refund. I’m going to appeal that with the credit card company today.

Tried to order a Marriage Certificate
Tried to order a Marriage Certificate - but wasn't warned beforehand that they need a document signed and dated in the presence of a Notary Public. Additionally, the Notary's stamp/seal must be legible.
That's more work than just going and getting the certificate myself.

Negative stars with a "Do Not Use…
Negative stars with a "Do Not Use VitalChek" option. I need to get a certified copy of my birth certificate. I chose the VitalChek option, but no where in the online application do they provide the option to request a CERTIFIED copy. I found VitalChek's customer service phone number online, (of course they don't provide it in the application form), and held for a long time to ask re the certified copy option, but no one picked up. I didn't want to sit around all day waiting for someone to answer, (and from other bad reviews it sounds like they don't answer), so I emailed my question to VitalCheck's email. If I get a response, I will be floored. To find an answer to my question about certification, I called SF 311's equivalent and a live person who answered quickly told me my application form (which I will submit by postal mail as VitalChek is not an option) had to be notarized. No where in the VC application form did it say my form had to be notarized, and I don't understand how the mail-in application has to be notarized, but the emailed application does not. In any case, SF should do the online application for copy of birth certificate themselves, or find a third party provider better than VitalChek.
