Easy to Buy, Very Hard to Exit
I joined Vinovest in August 2022. Nearly four years later, my portfolio is still down, with a cost basis around $1,320 and an estimated value around $1,246. The real problem is liquidity. The platform shows estimated market values, but those values do not feel like prices I can actually sell at. One of my wines is displayed at $561 current value, yet the marketplace page shows a last trade of $450, a highest bid of $260, and a lowest ask of $427. That is a huge disconnect between “estimated value” and actual market demand. Vinovest’s own help pages say selling depends on attracting a willing buyer and that they cannot guarantee a liquidation timeline. They also say fine wine and whiskey are long-term, illiquid assets. That is very different from the smooth, accessible investment experience I expected when I signed up. After years of holding, I am down overall, paying fees, and stuck with assets that are beyond difficult to sell. I would not recommend Vinovest to anyone looking for real liquidity, transparent executable pricing, or a simple alternative investment. An estimated portfolio value means very little if there is no realistic buyer near that price. They claimed to email me but I didn't recieve an email. What a joke
