Since it seems most people can't get to the computer fast enough when there's a complaint (I understand why), I thought I'd share a positive one to help the overall perspective. I live in a rural area where high-speed internet used to be a pipe-dream. For 7 years I had been on a local wireless internet plan advertised at 6mps download that rarely, if ever, surpassed 700kps in actual use. So a little over 2 years ago, I had Exede/Viasat hook me up with a 12mps/unlimited data plan - which seemed like lightning speed compared to my previous provider at the time. Since that time, I've been consistently at or above the 12mps advertised download speed and often approach 17mps sustained. Over these two years, I've had about 6 temporary outages that lasted 2 hours or less without the need to call customer service to restore the internet. I don't include weather-related outages (heavy snow blocks the signal) as it's not considered a glitch, but rather a physical limitation of the technology that I was aware of prior to committing to the service. About 4 months into my Viasat commitment the speed declined very noticeably which prompted a call to customer service - the only one I've needed in 27 months. The customer service rep was prompt, efficient and responsive. My internet speed returned to normal in minutes and never regressed since. I'd also like to add that the plan (which is no longer offered) and pricing remained the same even beyond the 24 month guarantee. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service Viasat has provided. It's a little more expensive than many around the country are used to paying, but it's a blessing for those of us with limited or no alternatives. I have no problem recommending Viasat to rural customers in need.
