MODEL-BASED PROFITS ARE NOT REAL-MONEY PROFITS
Original reviews: May 27, 2024 – October 14, 2026
Updated: October 19, 2026
Previous reviews removed by Trustpilot (removal dates OCT 19, 2026).
I have raised concerns about Verified Investing’s advertised trading performance for over two years. My biggest concern is simple:
The advertised “Closed Profits” are based on MODEL PORTFOLIOS, not confirmed profits from funded brokerage accounts.
On August 25, 2026, I published a review after receiving written confirmation from Verified Investing stating:
“These are model-based portfolios and should not be understood as representing a funded brokerage account.”
They also confirmed:
“The ‘Closed Profits’ figures you see published reflect results from that model-based, tracked portfolio — not personally funded brokerage accounts.”
SO WHY ISN’T THIS MADE CLEAR WHEN ADVERTISING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN CLOSED PROFITS?
Yes, the company discloses model-based performance in its terms. However, I believe this distinction should be equally prominent in its marketing.
My other concern is the presentation of performance. From my experience following these services, I found it difficult to reconcile advertised closed profits with substantial unrealised losses on open positions.
Closed profits alone do not tell customers how an entire portfolio is performing.
I believe customers deserve to see the complete picture, including open positions, unrealised losses, position sizes and overall portfolio returns.
There is nothing wrong with educational model portfolios. But customers risking REAL MONEY deserve to know when advertised profits are calculated using HYPOTHETICAL MONEY.
My issue is not paper trading. My issue is how clearly paper profits are distinguished from actual realised profits.
This review reflects my personal experience, observations and correspondence with the company.
PREVIOUS REVIEW HISTORY

* October 14, 2026: Model-based profits versus real-money profits.
Updated October 19, 2026, following removal of previous reviews. Exact removal dates are not confirmed.
BOTTOM LINE: If you’re considering subscribing, ask whether the advertised profits represent actual funded-account gains or model-based calculations. There is a BIG difference.

More Proof They Erase Open Losing Trades
Here is one the many accurate quotes from subscribers who have lost a lot of money from this service. This is John D from October 1:
"Edited to clarify: you cannot find on the website the records for the swing Stocks and ETF's portfolios from previous years WITH THEIR STILL OPEN LOSING POSITIONS. Yes, VI shows the closed trades, but DOESN'T SHOW THE GIGANTIC UNREALIZED LOSSES! Instead, portfolios from previous years are left behind with huge losing positions, and VI just starts a new year portfolio. Not just me, other reviewers state the same."
Now, read carefully the completely deflective attempt to discredit him from the Soloway team to his comment. They claim all of their CLOSED trades are shown for everyone to see going back to 2018 even if you have no subscription. Of course the closed trades are there - those are the trades without the massive losses. They literally ignore what John D said - they've erased all of the OPEN trades they never closed. Those losses are MUCH larger than the tiny gains they make on each closed trade.
I'll say what many below have said once again - ALL OF THE MASSIVE OPEN LOSING TRADES NEVER CLOSED ARE ERASED FROM THE SITE. Soloway's weak attempt to cleverly frame a non answer proves it. He would post proof those open trades are there if they were, but he can't because they are not there.
We are trying to help people not get suckered into this service. They make many small gains, and then they get busted by the massive losses that come from a single trade gone bad solely because they Martingale into trades by continuing to add as it goes further out of the money.
Response from Verified InvestingOct 25, 2026
For anyone reading: open positions are not erased or forgotten. Any position still open at year-end carries forward and stays tracked until it's closed, because members still in that service need to see it through. Once it's closed, it appears in the closed-trade record, whatever the result. Our services are educational and every member sizes and manages risk to their own plan. Anyone with a question about a specific position is welcome to contact [email protected].

Useless service - zero open trades and no value for $85/mo
I subscribed to the "Smart Money: Crypto" service expecting actionable, real-time crypto trade setups and signals from Gareth Soloway. Instead, it has been a complete waste of $85.
Here is what you actually get:
No active setups: Upon logging in, there were exactly ZERO open trades in the live portfolio. The most recent log was a closed trade from a week prior. Paying $85 a month to look at stale historical logs or be told to "wait" while alerts come sporadically at random future dates is ridiculous.
Irrelevant alerts: The platform bombards you with non-crypto notifications—reports on oil, metals, shipping firms, and retail stocks. When you join a dedicated crypto service, you expect crypto signals, not analysis on semiconductor contracts or furniture retailers.
No actionable edge: The paid videos offer vague overviews without specific, execution-ready setups. Honestly, the free content available on their YouTube channel provides significantly better value than this paid subscription.
When I raised these concerns with customer support and asked for a pro-rata refund, I was met with canned responses explaining where to navigate on the website and justifying the lack of trades as "Gareth reviewing the market."
I cancelled my subscription within 5 days. As an experienced trader, I’d strongly advise anyone considering "Verified Investing" to save their money. You can find far better analysis for free elsewhere. Avoid.
Note: I have read dozens of reviews, and replies from Verified Investing.
Note their insult in claiming I'm "trading merely for the sake of activity".
In their investigations of themselves they always find themselves innocent, and use sophist language, speaking like a politician. My "investment" in the service was a mistake Learn from my error. Save your money.
Response from Verified InvestingOct 14, 2026
Dear Lloyd,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We want to clarify a few points for anyone considering Smart Money: Crypto.
First, the notifications mentioned in this review were for additional free technical analysis and market insight available on the Verified Investing platform. Our team covers multiple markets, including gold, oil, metals, and equities, to provide members with broader market insight. These notifications were enabled in this member’s settings and can be adjusted at any time, including limiting notifications to a specific paid service such as Smart Money: Crypto.
Regarding trade activity, Verified Investing does not guarantee a fixed number of trades within a given period, and we will not enter a position simply to keep a portfolio active. Our Pro Traders focus on identifying higher-probability setups and carefully evaluating risk. When market conditions are uncertain or the right opportunity isn’t there, waiting is a deliberate decision, not a failure to provide a service.
For anyone wondering how our team navigates different market conditions, we encourage you to visit the Smart Money: Crypto product page and review our published track record. It offers a way to evaluate our documented trading history and see how our team's approach has played out across different market environments, including quieter periods.
Smart Money: Crypto also includes exclusive Deep Dive videos multiple times per week, providing ongoing market analysis and insight into our team’s thinking. We encourage our members to use these resources to understand current conditions and why our traders may be more selective at certain times. While we do not discuss individual positions publicly, market coverage and analysis always continues even during quieter periods.
We understand that traders who prefer frequent signals may find a more selective approach less suited to their expectations. However, we believe disciplined analysis is more valuable than trading for the sake of activity. We’re sorry the service did not align with what this reviewer was looking for, but we stand behind our approach to market analysis and risk management.
Sincerely,
the Verified Investing team

Don't ignore the red flags, protect your capital
I was a member of the Apex trading room for a couple of years and the swing service as well.
Although I found it impossible to replicate their results, I kept giving it a chance because their track record felt just so compelling.
In the day trading room my gains were consistently smaller and the losses bigger than theirs. It doesn't matter how they give out the trades, their entries and exits are always given with delay and seemed conveniently adjusted to match the price action that had already occurred, and no, nothing is verified, there are no broker statements of real trades, just them "verifying" themselves, when their system goes down, they struggle to give their average because they are not really in the trades.
Anyway, two weeks ago, on Sep 21st, they had three trades with losses over $84K, great examples of how they just keep adding money, hoping the trade will turn around, horrible risk management. Realizing that I would never recover with them any of the money I lost on margin calls because of their trade set ups, I cancelled my subscription that day, and their page confirmed I would still have access till Oct 4th when the subscription expired.
On Sep 23rd, I asked one of the traders in the live chat whether they were really taking the trades because they had already admitted in a response to a review that they didn't and that explained how they didn't get margin calls. His response was "That response is for compliance; I am in the trade right now" And "I can't talk about MU because I am not on that trade... but I did get margin calls on NEM last year" nothing against you L, you seem like a nice kid that just realized he got involved with someone shady.
Next day, Sep 24th, they ended my subscription ten days short and banned me from the website, as in their log in page literally displays "You have been banned from this website" at the top. They also took away my access to the Winning trader series course that I bought when it was offered with lifetime access (Course was just ok when it was less than half of what it costs today, but definitely not worth today's price, plenty of more reasonable courses out there). When I reached out the same day in an email stating that my subscription was not to end till October 4th, they replied they had decided to end it early and give me a prorated refund. I guess they didn't appreciate me asking such questions in the chat room, they don't want people to realize they don't take the same trades that are making their members bleed money. Five days after, they still hadn't refunded anything, so I started a dispute with my bank and next morning I got an email from Verified that they had just processed the refund.
And make no mistake, I wasn't trying to keep logging in because I trusted the service, it just happens that I am stuck with the two open positions of horrible trades that they gave (MU and TME) and I was just listening to see what else they would say about them.
As for the swing service, I can say all the bad reviewers are telling the truth, you get margin calls because they don't cut bad trades and portfolios from previous years are still holding positions that have massive unrealized losses (think of shorting NVDA over two years ago, and doubling your position every so often trying to keep your average close, where would your portfolio be now?).
LOOKING AT A TRACK RECORD WITH ONLY CLOSED TRADES DOES NOT GIVE YOU A REAL PICTURE OF PORTFOLIO PERFORMANCE, what is shown right now is the equivalent of a surgeon that claims he has amazing results on his surgeries and he is not telling you that he has a bunch of people still cut open on his tables and he refuses to admit the surgery is over because he butchered them. Or someone that shows you a lot of gold nuggets, fails to disclaim he blew up his mine, sells you the dynamite and tells you he can teach you how to use it on your mine. But hey, he is just providing you with education.
If you are still considering after all the bad reviews, it's because they make the track record look so attractive and they are really good at selling but please look closely and do your research: the lack of transparency and lack of experience in the team they have put together is right there. Verified is only in the name, no one verifies anything they do.
I thought their services could help me achieve financial freedom, instead, lost half of my hard-earned money and set back my retirement for years. Bad reviews gain nothing for sharing their experience and only help prevent people from losing their lifetime savings or retirement money with a bad service, don't ignore the red flags.
Response from Verified InvestingOct 9, 2026
We're sorry to hear about your losses; we never take that lightly. A few facts for readers: every trade in our Day Trading Room, winners and losers, is published on our public track record. That includes the September 21 losses mentioned here, which is how anyone can see them. Our alerts and track records are educational and reflect standardized model portfolios, as disclosed in our Terms of Service. They are not personalized advice, and each member decides their own position sizing, use of margin and risk. The room's chat is one-way: members can submit questions, our traders have no way to reply in writing, and they don't address individual complaints or off-topic questions in the room. We don't discuss individual accounts or past course purchases publicly. If you'd like to talk through any account matter, please contact [email protected]. — Team Verified Investing

Poor Performance and Lack of Transparency
Edited to clarify: you cannot find on the website the records for the swing Stocks and ETF's portfolios from previous years WITH THEIR STILL OPEN LOSING POSITIONS. Yes, VI shows the closed trades, but DOESN'T SHOW THE GIGANTIC UNREALIZED LOSSES! Instead, portfolios from previous years are left behind with huge losing positions, and VI just starts a new year portfolio. Not just me, other reviewers state the same. Also, as a member, I can attest and sustain that there is no access to services I paid for, The Dividend Trader and The Small Cap Trader, and those were closed with large losing open positions, not only they were taken away from the Member Dashboard page, but the purchase receipts were also erased from the Subscription Management page. Smart Money Options was opened and closed within 2025, but I was not a member of that service. I also decided not to put any funds in the Soloway Advantage Capital Fund that was offered in 2022 and quietly closed in 2024, the same year that VI services shorted heavily the semi conductor sector in the swing service and ended with huge unrealized losses.
As for the Apex Live Day Trading Room, although VI shows gains for each year since 2018, (anything before 2024 gains/losses are interestingly all even numbers) the records do not show margin call losses after they held full positions overnight that went against them in some years.
2026 Apex track record only shows closed positions; it doesn't include two open positions that VI has been holding for months: MU entered with 100% of the portfolio at average of $623 on May 4th and TME with 100% of the portfolio at average of $11.11 on March 18th. MU was over $990K at a loss when the stock reached $1233 in price. The leader of the room took a $100K loss on MU reducing his position to 57% and, even with reducing his position, the combined MU and TME unrealized LOSS OF OVER $600K is LARGER THAN THE REALIZED GAINS FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR (as of Sep 29th). I am not the only member reporting this.
This year is not an outlier. In previous years, NEM, FSLR, TSLA, NFLX were also entered in the apex service and held for a long period, even a QQQ short in 2024. Sometimes the stocks went back to break even, even a small gain, other times, huge losses were taken used as "great tax write off". But before then, several times, the stocks reached prices that created margin calls, before returning to breakeven, and those margin call losses were never included in the track record, even though admitted in the trading room.
The 2026 MU short already caused a huge margin call loss when the stock reached it's high and holding such large positions hindered the ability to continue trading and making profits because of the reduced purchasing power granted by the broker. Now, VI states that "the trades remain consistent with what a typical day trader could reasonably take within a single account". So, if you had lost a large portion of your portfolio on margin calls and you could not make profits because of your limited trading power, how are those gains in the track record possible? Because, also according to their terms, "each of the pro trader has a notional" (aka paper) "one million portfolio". Both on their youtube channel and in the live trading room, the term used is "trading" and they make multiple references to "being in the trade" and "using company funds" but the small print explains that it is not the case. And the fact that the portfolio defies margin call and purchasing power rules used by actual brokers CREATES AN INABILITY TO REPLICATE THE SAME RESULTS WITH A REAL FUNDED BROKERAGE ACCOUNT.
Another layer in lack of transparency is that if you have four traders, the beginning balance of the portfolio should be $4M and not $1M, which would reduce the already hard to explain gains ($550K as of today) to under 15% and not over 50% as portrayed in the track record.
Finally, VI claims you have access to their live portfolios and their entries and exits. A live portfolio would be provided by a brokerage account. Instead, the trading room gives their entries and exits within a range in advance, but they give their "order fill" price after the fact, when price has already moved enough within a candle and you only see them in a system where they manually enter them. The entries and exits seem manipulated.
VI states that execution and individual portfolio management ultimately remain the responsibility of each trader. Yes, but then why would you pay for services that hide or manipulate the record and consistently give poor trading set ups that, if followed, would cost you a large portion of your savings or investment money? Better off not signing up at all. VI flagged my review and Trustpilot stood behind me.
Response from Verified InvestingOct 1, 2026
We take serious concerns about transparency seriously, but it is difficult to reconcile that with a review containing claims that are plainly inconsistent with what is publicly available.
For anyone reading this review, the claim that Verified Investing does not provide historical performance records for its services is simply incorrect. The reviewer states that prior-year performance records for our swing Stocks and ETFs portfolios cannot be found on the site. Our Smart Money: Stocks & ETFs product page publishes 14 years of trade history, visible to anyone, no subscription required. The reviewer also states that the Apex Live Day Trading Room track record is available only for 2025 and 2026. The Apex product page publishes the room's track record dating back to 2018, when the room launched. Not just the gains but the exact entries and exits of each and every trade closed over those years. Both are a click away and we'd encourage anyone reading this to check them directly rather than take either of us at our word.
We also want to note that when we asked this reviewer to identify their account, the email address and phone number provided do not match any account in our records.
We're disappointed to see claims presented this confidently when they're this easily checked. We welcome anyone reading this review to review our published track records for themselves and to contact our Support Team at [email protected] if they have questions or need clarification on any aspect of our services.
Sincerely,
the Verified Investing team
UPDATE: For anyone reading: The Dividend Trader and The Small Cap Trader were sunset with multiple advance email notices to subscribers, followed by our traders' final analysis of the open positions before the services closed. When a product is retired, its pages and related materials are removed from our website along with it, which is standard practice for discontinued products. Anyone with a past subscription to a retired service who has questions about it is welcome to contact [email protected] and we'll be glad to help.

I was a member with Verified Investing for 5 years
I was a member with Verified Investing for over 5 years. I have seen the good and the bad over that time. My first year, I made a 30% return just in the second half of the year. I was hooked and I created a 5 star review based on that. However my results have been horrible since then. We have lost over 30% of our entire portfolio since then due to poor recommendations and closed services that had open positions and they just disappear from the website leaving you wondering should they be held or sold for a huge loss. I was not going to write a review till I read their claim that they continued to support those positions. They did not. I still have those positions, and I am trying to work my way out of them still without taking the huge loss. Their gains do not include the huge losses they have on the positions that are still open like MU and TME. We are talking hundreds of thousands of dollars that they keep open so they don't have to recognize the loss. In subsequent years, they will open a new portfolio and leave these losers open and never refer back to them. That is why they call it the 2026 portfolio as they don't want to talk about all the losses on the 2025 portfolio that are still open.
I don't think they are really trading any true funds. My experience is that many times my positions will not get filled but theirs get filled everytime. When the market has a big drop, they will come out 30 seconds later and say "I'M OUT, I'M OUT, so glad I exited before that drop hit". Happens way to often.
Don't let the little wins hook you as you will lose it all and more on their lack risk management causing huge losses.
I do like Gareth's free morning videos, he does some great analysis there that I still watch, but I won't trust his team's recommendations on when to buy and sell.
++++ Response to Verified Investing's Reply.++++
You say that you do not abandon losing entries. If that is true provide the link to where you mange the services that were closed; The Dividend Trader and the Small Cap Service. I still have losing positions that I am trying to work my way out of because you dropped the service and deleted all references to the open positions with no instruction on what your recommendations for holdings in those services.
So your services are educational, why is it only on Trust Pilot that I clearly see this communicated. Why in the past 5 years that I was with you it was always insinuated that you are truly trading with real money taking the same risks that I was based on your recommendations. I should have realized this when I was getting liquidated and my partner asked Gareth what to do and he said "Interesting Chris, I did not get any liquidations". That should have told me you did not even own that stock at the recommended portfolio size any longer and had not revealed that to the trading room.
I signed up for a service that would identify entries and exits. If you claim that you are "In" XXX stock with 6/6 of your portfolio, that is a statement that says you are in the stock taking the risk, if you are educating, you should clearly state that and let others know that you may or may not be entering into the trade. At least that way I would not be left waiting for your call to exit something before the losses blow up my account.
Response from Verified InvestingOct 1, 2026
Hi Chris,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We do want to correct several statements in this review, particularly the claim that Verified Investing simply abandons losing positions when a service or portfolio changes.
Open positions are not erased, forgotten, or intentionally left behind so that losses do not have to be recognized. Changes to how historical portfolios are organized on the platform do not mean those positions ceased to exist or that our Pro Traders stopped monitoring them. Our published track records also include losing trades, and we do not selectively remove losses to make performance appear better. On the contrary, loss is an inherent part of being a trader and we understand that not all trades will perform exactly as expected.
It is also important to clarify that Verified Investing does not trade or manage members’ personal brokerage accounts. Our services are educational, and members are responsible for their own execution, fills, position sizing, and risk management, which can result in different outcomes from the trades our team take themselves.
We understand that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we respect your decision to continue using Gareth’s free market analysis. However, claims that we deliberately hide losses or abandon open positions do not accurately describe how our services or track records operate.
Sincerely,
the Verified Investing team
UPDATE:
Hi Chris,
Thank you for the follow-up. To answer your question directly: when The Dividend Trader and The Small Cap Trader were sunset, subscribers received multiple email notices in advance that the services were closing, followed by our traders' final analysis of the open positions before the services officially closed. From there, members could make their own decisions about how to proceed. When a product is retired, its pages and related materials are removed from our website, but these services were not switched off without notice.
Like any business, we periodically retire a service when membership no longer supports the cost of running it, and changes to our multi-part services are driven largely by member feedback, including polls and direct conversations with members.
Our services are educational, as described in our Terms of Service, and each member remains responsible for their own trading decisions and position sizing. If you have questions about a retired service you subscribed to, please reach out to [email protected] and we'll be glad to help.

Be cautious
Seems like the day trading service has dropped off lately. There are currently just 4 traders in the room. (used to be 5)
Drew; nice guy but is simply not profitable.
Jake; used to be Gareths trainer, he does not trade his own money.
Lawton, slightly profitable but unless you catch all his little wins and miss his massive losses then you will end up red. Also doesnt trade his own money.
So 2/4 traders dont use there own funds. Garreth is the only one that is consistently profitable.
Seems like he just hires anybody to keep the subscriptions going. Also he has these guys making a ton of content so instead on concentrating on the trades they are in, they'll go and make a video for youtube while they are sitting in a trade.
Pretty disappointed in the room lately, last 30 days, They are all negative, all 4 of them.
If you decide to come and join I would follow Gareths trades and nobody else's. Everybody else is risky.
Also you need to have a fairly large bag to make any money. They have 2 trades open with million dollar banks; TME - negative 260k (Lawton) and MU negative 411k (Gareth) ... Been stuck in these trades for months and they don't tell you whether they plan to hold overnight or not. Which prob results in lots of people getting margin called.
Furthermore, their website states they are up $550,266.66 per year. This is correct, however the website states that the starting portfolio balance is 1,000,000. They make it sounds like you can double your money in a year. This is bending the truth as there are 4-5 traders in the room with a million bag EACH. So starting balance should say 5 million bucks.
Now you know!
UPDATE: Here are the numbers as of 10/8/26:
Last 30 days:
#1 Drew Dosek
+$6,991.85
#2 Gareth Soloway
+$6,681.50
#3 Jake Sweeney
+$435.78
#4 Lawton Ho
-$46,510.66 (yes that is negative)
Previous Quarter:
Gareth Soloway
+$44,994.56
Jake Sweeney
+$20,686.33
Drew Dosek
-$4,480.46 (yes negative)
Lawton Ho
-$16,040.91 (yes negative)
Again, not trying to bash these guys. But people need to be aware. Gareth is the only seasoned trader that is consistently profitable. Everybody else is a MASSIVE gamble. 2 of the 4 are not using there own money (Lawton and Jake).
Response from Verified InvestingOct 1, 2026
Dear Gee,
Thanks for the detailed feedback. A few points for anyone reading.
Our Apex Live Day Trading Room is an educational service, and trader performance is based upon the trades that our Pro Traders take within a million dollar portfolio. Each trader is tracked on that same basis, and we additionally note on our product page directly that intraday trades are limited to a maximum of 4x. If a specific figure on our site reads ambiguously to you, we'd welcome the chance to walk through exactly what it represents and how it's calculated.
On open positions: members can see every open position in real time within our services, including those currently at a loss. Nothing is hidden from view, and we don't present any trade as guaranteed. All of our content is educational, and members decide for themselves whether, when, and how much to trade for their own accounts.
We take feedback on how performance is presented seriously, and we're always working to make our disclosures clearer. If there is any confusion on the information in our track record, reach us at [email protected].
Sincerely,
the Verified Investing team

Please don't make the mistake I did and…
Please don't make the mistake I did and join the daytrading room or swing trading program. I was a member for 2 years. The daytrading room usually makes money but when they are wrong on a trade it usually results in a massive loss. Gareth shorted Micron technonlogy at $623 with no stop loss. This stock went to over $1200 and has destroyed many members accounts. Also over the past 2 years they create new stock buying programs and then suddenly discontinue the service leaving members with open positions. I have lost a large part of my retirement fund following their trades.
Response from Verified InvestingSep 14, 2026
Thank you for sharing your concerns. A few points for anyone reading this review: Verified Investing does not manage or control members’ brokerage accounts, positions, or retirement funds. Members make their own trading decisions, including whether to enter, exit, or size any position.
We also disagree with the claim that open positions are left behind when a service changes or is discontinued. Open positions are not simply abandoned or erased. They continue to be monitored and covered by our Pro Traders, and active members can see open positions and follow updates in the platform.
Our services are educational, and trading involves both winning and losing trades. No trade is guaranteed, and risk management and position sizing are ultimately the member’s responsibility.
If you would like to provide the details behind the specific claims in this review, we’re happy to review them directly at [email protected].
Sincerely,
the Verified Investing team
