Update 8/17/24: After I posted this review, I was very quickly connected with a real person that has been assisting me with searching for jobs and reformatting my resume. The person that has been working with me is pleasant and professional, but at the same time, I'm not sure my original conclusions were wrong. For now, I'm giving them a small benefit of a doubt and updating my rating from 1 star to 2 stars. I will update again when I am further along into the process. Original Review: My former employer paid for some sort of services with Velvet when I was laid off recently. I agree with the other reviewer that the positive reviews for this company are fake. I was asked to fill out a survey on their website with information about my desired position, and was asked to upload a resume. They said I would be contacted by one of their team members. After a few days I was sent an email by their team asking me to fill out…the same survey again. When I said that I had already done so, they told me that my information was incomplete and I should just complete it again. So I did. A few days after that I received another email that asked me to reply to the email with the answers to the questions that I already submitted twice on their website, and email them a copy of my resume. This smacks of a strategic pattern of delaying tactics hoping that they will not have to provide any of the services that they have been paid for. It’s particularly infuriating because those of us who have lost our jobs need to be particularly strategic with our time and apply to as many jobs as possible. Instead, I’ve wasted my time interacting with this company. If you want to make laid off employees even more angry and frustrated than they already were, tell them you’re providing them with “outplacement services” and hire Velvet Jobs.
