Dr. Woo is fantastic! Great way of explaining everything, treats you like a fellow human being, and his staffers were lovely also.

Do not appreciate being lied to. All I asked is to send a form to my insurance company to verify I have to wear compression stockings for 3 months prior to any procedure. I was told twice it was sent then I was told after I checked with my ins co, that they did not need pre-authorization. So which is it. How hard is it to send a pre-authorization just to verify it. Ins co told me nothing requires the compression stocking.

I am very pleased with everything. The staff are very professional yet pleasant and helpful. I especially appreciate the staff thoroughly explaining what to expect and sending home written instructions after each procedure.

The only reason I've given only 4 stars is because I'm not completely through with the treatments and still can see some of the veins. I'm 2 months into the process and pretty much finished with the schlero - now I just have to wait for the veins to get absorbed. My final scan is in 3 weeks. Dr. Pappas and his entire staff have been very informative and helpful throughout the entire treatment. I'm not quite done yet - Here's what's been done so far: initial scan - ultra sound of legs to map out diseased veins to submit for insurance coverage. right leg - lasered 2 varicous veins - this treatment was done with novacaine and almost painless. The worst part was the cold alcohol rub before inserting the needle. Dr. Pappas talks you through the whole procedure which really helps put you at ease. the actual laser part took only a few seconds and you don't feel any pain because it has been numbed. the week following I wore the compression stockings for 3 full days, took some advil when it started feeling achy. No pain or swelling after a few days. left leg - only one varicose vein lasered. Same reaction as above. Schlerotherapy for med veins - performed by the doctor with nurse assisting again with ultrasound. Used novacaine because some of these veins are deeper than the surface veins treated at the end. Not too painful - just lots of little pinches when he injects the novacain. Sometimes there's a little burning sensation and some discomfort when medication is being injected into the vein, but for the most part it was painless. after treatments I wore the stockings for 3 full days. and had very little discomfort - nothing that advil couldn't take care of! Final surface schlero treatments. 2 appointments / leg This was done by a nurse only and no ultra-sound or novacain needed. Some slight discomfort during injections but it was tolerable. Good time to bring a book to read or your cell phone to distract you during the injections. I'm finally experiencing some swelling of my ankles and calves after the treatments. My left leg especially swollen - no pain, just discomfort. However my right calf feels like I've pulled a muscle and I'm limping around a bit - for 3 days now. I contacted Dr. Pappas and he feels that blood in the dying veins has not been absorbed and may be causing this soreness. I'm going in to see him tomorrow for a scan, where he may need to remove some of the excess blood. All-in-all, the treatments seem to be going well and have not been too painful. I have seen some improvement in my veins, but still needs time for bruising and darkened veins to go away... to be continued!
