We have been Vector clients for 10 years. We live overseas and trust them to keep watch over our home. If I have one area of improvement I might suggest, it would be to shorten the time between the alarm going off and the contact from Vector to verify that everything is in order. 1-2 minutes would be preferable to 5-6 minutes, which is the norm.

I did talk with 2 customer service representatives. The first stated I needed to talk with a technician. When I call back 2 days later, the customer r.epresentative was able to tell me what to do

We have had very few problems over the years with our equipment, however, we think they should offer a service contract where you get the monitoring plan plus charge a small fee to include parts and labor per month if anything goes wrong plus a credit for autopay. Just a thought.

All is well except for one fire unit in hall off kitchen. Cannot use broiler to prepare...say....lamb chops - set off alarm and fire department was sent out. I have not broiled since - not good. Also, you said you could not get thru on my phone and that is why fire department was sent. It did not ring - it cannot when alarm is on.....need this looked into for us.

Hi Carol, thank you for your feedback. To address your concern, we first need to explain briefly how alarms work. When the control panel sends an alarm, it takes over the phone line to send the signal to us. This is called "line seizure." Simply put, we, as the alarm company, seize the phone line so that communication between your alarm system and our Central Station takes priority. If the customer does not have call waiting, we will get a busy signal. If the customer does have call waiting, we will reach their answering machine/service. This most often happens when the panel sends multiple signals (as in this example). If panel only sends one signal, then by the time we call them the panel has released the line. When we receive fire signals, we attempt the premises and if there is no answer or we get an answering machine, we dispatch the fire department, since time is of the essence. In your case, we recommend contacting our service department to discuss the possibility of moving the detector or changing the sensitivity on detector so it doesn’t go into alarm when you use your broiler. You may also contact us if you'd like to note special instructions on your account for us to contact you at an alternate number in case of emergency.

While understanding and helpful the resources could not make a decision on replacing the control box. Both Comcast and Vector say that they are not the issue I am left without monitoring yet paying for the service. That's not going to last long. Bruce

Needed to convert the security system account over to my name after my husband passed, and the way to do this was not user friendly. I had to request documents, schedule a service call, and pretty much re-instantiate the whole account. Once I did, everything went smoothly.

Thank you for your input. For your protection, we have procedures in place whenever there is a requested change to your account. We do this to prevent unauthorized modifications. These procedures are meant to safeguard your account information and may require making your change request in writing or filling out new paperwork. We are happy to know though, that once you got through the process, things went smoothly!
