We recently had our alarm system upgraded and have already had a system failure. We had 2 false smoke alarms at last evening/early morning. Called first thing for a service call and could not be scheduled for 2 weeks, entirely too long to wait for a security system repair. Had we not been home, which would not be uncommon in the summer, I fear that the fire company may have broken into the house to look for the fire.

I had a security system put in by…
I had a security system put in by Vector back in 2017. It worked great for about 6 months. But then lots of false alarms, automatic lights wouldn't work when entering the house, smoke detector became way too sensitive, and it got worse.
Seemed every time I called I got voicemail. Left a message 3x. Never a call back. The last message I left was telling them I wanted the system removed.
Now some law firm is trying to collect on the contract. Charging me for the equipment an monitoring. Why should I pay for a system that doesn't work correctly? Again I tried to call them and apparently the local number had been disconnected. I've told this to the law firm collecting and even they said they would have someone from Vector contact me. I'm still waiting after 3 months.
I hope this goes to court! The info they gave the law firm does not match the contract! The system was a lemon and I shouldn't have to pay for a system that does not work!
All I ask is to drop the collection and remove the system. But I'm not paying a dime!
FYI, two others in my family used to have Vector and why I chose them initially. Neither of them use Vector any more for similar issues (sensors started acting up, false alarms, etc).
Oh, let me remind Vector, that false alarms can result in fines from law enforcement and fire department. Will you pay those for me?
DO NOT BUY FROM VECTOR unless you want a system that will require a lot of calls to customer service (and good luck getting through), and lots of headaches.

I've been very happy with the electric "security" part of the company/ the entry alarms, etc, - the service center people are very nice but can only take info, not actually help or resolve problems - and I'm not going to waste my time waiting for a supervisor to call while I'm WAITING for a tech to call -- they take hours to respond - they won't even call to say they are "too busy" to talk to you. That's why I'm looking for a new company. I was the first in my neighborhood to let you guys switch me but over the years when a tech is needed you're out of luck. There's too many companies offering services and resources if you were to get robbed. I advised the service center would call to cancel - but am still paying while I look and getting whatever service I can in the interim. (Would not recommend you to my neighbor though - he's a Baltimore Raven football player - unless he had his own IT for your security system)

After the hurricane our system was unable to communicate with the monitoring center for several weeks. They called every night at 11 pm to tell us this. Then they told us it was because of the cell towers being down which was not true. Finally after 3 weeks of no service they came and changed our box. This was not acceptable service.

Be very careful
This company is nothing but scam artists. My husband is in the Army, and they will not let us out of our contract, even though we have PCS orders, because I had to put the contract in my name. What would this company have done if my husband were deployed? Nothing, that's what the CSR told me. We are locked into a contract for an alarm system we are not using. I HIGHLY recommend using another security company, i.e. ADT or really anyone else.
The salesperson basically harassed me when we first bought our house, and then didn't mention that it was a 3 year contract until I was literally signing the papers. He also said that any PCS orders would immediately release us from the contract, which was a complete lie.
Update: I am changing my 1 star review to a 2 star review. I had a very nice CSR contact me this evening explaining that Vector respects military families. They will allow us to use my husband's PCS orders even though the account is in my name.
However, I sent 2 emails requesting that they contact me, never heard a word. And, I still have to furnish not only the PCS orders, but also a bill of sale of our house and/or a hand written letter stating that we want our contract to end in May and why. This is extremely inconvenient. Why would they not make a way to do this verbally over the phone or on an internet form. Now I have to make sure that my letter is sent in certified mail so I know for certain that they receive the letter. I do NOT want our contract to auto-renew in May (and it's ridiculous that it even would without me signing a new contract). This entire process has been a headache, as was dealing with the original salesperson who came to my house every day for a WEEK ringing my doorbell to get me to sign a contract.
I can appreciate that security systems don't fall under SCRA, but I'd like the company to think about how unreasonable and inconvenient it is to ask a family who generally has to move every 2-3 years to provide this much paperwork (and first get the house sold) just to get out of a security contract, AND expect them to be pleased about their contract auto renewing without a hand written letter.
I appreciate the kind CSR and her help, but I will not recommend this company to other military families. This company would be useful for families who are permanently stationed in a place, and do not move around.

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. We are forwarding your comments to the local branch for review. In the meantime, here is our military policy, which can be found on our website:
Vector Security is proud to serve military personnel and their families for over 40 years. We understand the commitment and sacrifice that your families make every day. Nearly 250 employees of Vector Security are either active or veterans representing all branches of the military including Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, as well as the National Guard and Coast Guard. And we appreciate every family that selects Vector Security to keep their family, home and belongings safe.
As a Vector Security customer, all military and residential customers are required to sign a contract with Vector Security outlining the terms and conditions for installation of the security system, monitoring and other services. The term of the contract could run over a period of several years depending on your service area and type of services. Vector Security is able to offer lower cost installations by taking a financial loss for the initial installation upfront in return for a longer-term agreement over the contract period. This is very standard practice across the security industry and other industries that you may purchase services from, including cell phones and cable/satellite providers. Military families are unique as you may be deployed or re-deployed and your housing situation could change during the life of your contract. If this happens, Vector Security's policy for active duty military is as follows:
If you own the home where the security system is installed, have sold this home and can show written proof of the sales agreement on your home along with a copy of your recent PCS orders that require your relocation, we will honor your request to end services and the remaining commitment on your contract. We would ask you to consider moving the security system with Vector Security to your new location if Vector Security services the new location.
However, if you own your home where the security system is installed and are planning to keep the home or use it as a rental property, the original contract term and commitment will stay in place and you will be required to fulfill the terms of your contract with Vector Security
Contracts with Vector Security are not subject to the Service Member Civil Relief Act (SCRA). An alarm contract does not fall under the definition of an installment contract defined within the SCRA. As such, the SCRA does not provide the ability to terminate your contract with Vector Security.

Poor camera feed
I have been a customer for many years now. I added video cameras to my service and it was the worst mistake every. The video feed is not live very blurry and delayed. If I had known this I would have never added this feature. If someone was in break into my house by the time the camera sends me an alert hell they would be long gone. I would advise any customer to never get these cameras. I can't wait till my contract is up so that I can go to another provider. Thanks for nothing Vector!!!!
