Sadly they don't care about there members. Wife had her locker broken into as in someone cut the lock. Stole here property. When we said something to the person at the front desk he just sat there with a crappie grin on his face like who cares. Got the manager on the phone he was like get the police to get a warrant for our surveillance video. Sandy Vasa after 6 years of membership it's time I say goodbye.

I’ll start with most of the good…
I’ll start with most of the good reviews are coming from the employees and fitness instructors, that alone should say something.
The Cedar location has been a 2nd home of mine for 14 years; if anyone can rant or rave, it’s me.
The staff is great-except for the Zumba teacher, Melissa S. But if anyone is bringing this business down, it’s Vasa headquarters. Cedar City location is clean. In fact, this topic deserves more attention:
Shaunda-The real manager of the childcare that never got promoted to Manager position, though was well deserved. She had been there faithfully for 15 years. On time, worked 6 days a week. I know this because I went 6 days a week. She stuck to Vasa’s ridiculous rules and guidelines, was fully dedicated to her job and the protection of our children. She’s strict and structured, yet courteous. She asked for time off to help her daughter out of state and meet her new grandbaby; Vasa fired her. Huge red flag!
Justin-Maintenance Man; always checking the equipment and constantly tinkering with something to make sure everything is working to its fullest potential. He does it every day, with a smile, like Carol Brady. I really hope this guy promotes himself to Retro Fitness before Vasa throws another skilled and dedicated employee under the bus. Thus, the equipment in the Cedar and St. George locations are in perfect working order. No torn seats, no jerks in the cables, nothing broken, no squeaking. Got to give credit where credit is due. Hopefully Justin level-ups to Retro.
The rants-I’ve listened to people complain about accounting discrepancies and contract breaches at Vasa (previously Golds Gym) since day 1.
I received an email from Vasa stating that they’re not charging for the months they’re not open during the Covid pandemic, eventually followed by another “We’re back open” email, except the daycare so “all members won’t be charged for childcare.” Cool, still can’t go. This encouraged me to pull a running legend and sure enough, they’ve been ripping me and 3 other household members off for yearS.
I pointed out that they continually charged me for daycare and kept charging during their corona closure. After disputing this for literally months they admitted fault, and still won’t refund or give me credit. They don’t do this on accident. The vast majority of members have this complaint. You cannot contact any superiors in the Vasa corporate offices, I’ve tried. Instead, they have students in a call center that have no authority to make changes on your account rebuttal. My only option was to put me on a new contract with no childcare then I could add childcare when (IF) they reopen for an extra $25 a month PER CHILD and only available for 2 or older.
I have religiously paid for 15 years, referred countless people that signed up. Always respected their staff, equipment, and other members. It’s pathetic they treat their loyal clients and staff this way and deserve no business.
I recently signed up at Retro Fitness where I pay only $35 monthly. This includes classes, daycare, buddy passes, and access to all equipment. It’s clean and the options are vast. They have a smoothie bar that is cheaper and just as good as anywhere else in town. Retro Fitness childcare has multiple staff members that give your children attention, and fully equipped with slides, tv, toys, etc.
If you’re trying to decide which gym to sign up with; Vasa’s motto is Lie Cheat and Steal. Go Retro!

I used to like this gym prior to the pandemic. Once the gym opened up again, they offered all kinds of incentives to get you to either unfreeze your membership or sign up again. I was on of the fools to do this and I have not been able to even go to the gym due to some medical issues I have been having since the end of August. Today I checked my bank account and they took out $71.98. I called the corporate office to get this waived as I am cancelling my membership as I don't know when I can go in. They refused, please do not use this gym they are all about your money and that is it.

I used to love this gym, but...
I love VASA/ I'm in the gym 4-5 days a week, and I love the classes. But I can no longer overlook some of the things I've observed at the Vasa at Jewell & Sheridan in Denver. 1) the bathrooms are filthy and don't even think about using the showers. The walls are moldy and there's hair everywhere. Ugh. Some of the instructors are great, but they all seem to want to damage your hearing with music that is so loud that it's physically painful. I've complained to the instructors and to the manager, and nothing changes. And at this particular VASA there's been at least two COVID outbreaks among the staff (one reported to the state) including a current one, and they don't post a mask requirement nor do they even tell you there's an outbreak. Highly irresponsible. Finally, I paid for six months of training in late 2019. COVID happened and the gym closed before I had used all my sessions, and I still had to pay for the ones I didn't use and have never gotten either a refund or an acknowledgement that they owe me for training sessions. I'm looking for another gym, one that's honest with its clients.

why
Cancelling contracts is impossible.
Just awful. I purchased a three month personal training contract that went month by month after. After around six months my trainer leaves for another job and I decide to try and cancel my membership. The website only allows you to cancel on two terms, none of which apply to me. Employees and support numbers keep tossing me around for months, telling me to go to their website, to call this number, to come in the next day when someone could help me. Meanwhile, I'm still getting charged hundreds of dollars while they're stalling me. Getting out of contracts is impossible apparently.

Horrible customer service!
Horrible customer service! I was told in order to cancel my membership, I would have to pay a $50 rate guarantee fee for the next 12 months that I won’t even have a membership for. Absolutely ridiculous and Paul at Layton, Ut Vasa was very passive aggressive and arrogant. Would not even consider not charging this fee as a customer courtesy. Threatened to charge me with over due fees if I tried to contest payment.

I wish I could do zero stars
I wish I could do zero stars. I froze my account because I couldn’t afford to cancel or because yes there’s a fee to cancel of 25 dollars and a fee of 10 dollars just to freeze it. So I froze it, thinking it would stay froze until i unfroze it.. but no after 90 days it’s starts charging again. SO they charged me 80 dollars and then my bank charged me another 25 for being in the negative. So I called them hoping they could refund me and cancel it.. but no the MOST they could do is freeze it again for free. Keep in mind I froze it because I haven’t been going to the gym since i got the pass and froze it. Sooo they have charged me about over 200 or more dollars just for nothing. Crappy ass way to run a company. Can’t even help your customers. Just rape them of their money.

Terrible customer service especially…
Terrible customer service especially from their billing company Paramount. I changed my membership to include multiple clubs only to realize I was being charged 17.00 more than the 22.99 to upgrade from my old plan of 13.00. They added guest privileges without my knowledge. I had not realized the error until 5 months later. When I spoke to the general manager at the Westminster location explaining that it was one of her front desk associates that helped do the upgrade for me on my phone she offered me one free month. Being a former manager at Golds Gym, this offer was not only a slap in the face, it was absolutely disrespectful considering her own staff was the one that upgraded my membership for me to a multi-club, not realizing they added on guest privileges as well. I actually never received any call back from her at all when she had said she would, so a week later I canceled my membership and brought some of my coworkers with me. We are all now working out at Chuze Fitness because they know how to treat their members. I will refer more coworkers to Chuze because we work for a large company and we're all about customer service. Maybe you all should figure out how to retain members and apologize rather than tell them sorry, you should have realized the amount that was being charged. Too bad that we will never return
