We specifically use this instead of glass for ceiling installations because it provides a much more even, glare-free light diffusion and is significantly safer/lighter for overhead mounting. Regarding the "Repair": We hear your frustration about having to install parts yourself. To make this as easy as possible, we aren't just sending "bits and pieces," but a fully pre-assembled "plug-and-play" electronic core (the entire LED board and driver).
