Crazy how u on hold for hours then to freeze all transactions where I can’t even get my money off my card from the store Apple Pay transfer no nothing just outrageous horrible customer service wait time is unbelievable

Direct express has caused My Brother to be homeless because he cannot access his money because they want birth certificate that is taking months to come in. The meanwhile My Brother is on the streets because of this company if they were worried about fraud, they should’ve mailed him a new card do not trust your money with these people do not trust your money with these people horrible horrible card.

For over a week now I have not been able to access my DirectExpress Online Account nor use my debit card. I had contacted Direct Express and they told me that I'd need to submit my ID Card, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate. Then they told me it would take up to 67 hours to be reviewed. I called them 67 hours later and again, after being on hold for an hour I was told that my submission was declined because I sent my State ID besides the SS Card and Birth Certificate; that by their policy I should have only sent my Social Security Card and Birth Certificate. They told me I must resubmit only my SS Card and B.C. I did this. This morning (Saturday, July 18, 2026) I received an email from them saying that they had received my submission but they are requiring me to send the front and back of my SS. Card and my Birth Certificate. I did this and I received an email back stating that it will take 148-150 hours for my email to be reviewed. This is unjust, this is ludicrous and it seems they are committing fraud. Right now I don't have a penny in my pocket and I am unable to use the funds from Social Security benefits. This needs to be resolved.

Even though I gave my direct deposit info to social security I was tricked in signing with Direct Express. From reading through all the reviews I was also blocked from using my card so I have to pay for both a replacement and express shipping because of their error. Do not use this company. Why is social security using their service? I hope my direct deposit goes through the next payment.

Horrible. Don't get this card. Im warning you. Can't contact customer service. Just needed a simple statement directed me to web. Not user friendly at all. I wonder who, and why, in admiration chose this card for its clients. Must be a relative. Been trying to get my statement online for 3.5 hours now. Close your account and have your money deposited to a reputable bank. Not direct express 😕

unbelievable, I posted on here stateing that I'd probably be cursed by these guys bad mojo. PROPHECY On the 3rd I go to my ATM for some cash to pay bills, it says pound sand you got a bad chip. Can't access my money or use the card anywhere. I could buy online and got some groceries, then contacted this outfit to get a replacement card, all automated fill in the blank stuff. It says, new card should arrive in 10 days. It didn't mention that my account was locked out. I tried to pay electric and it was declined, THANKS FOR THE WARNING. Since it's the holiday I'm sure the 10 day count won't start untill tuesday. I've read stiories about people waiting months and then getting the new card to work can take months longer. I"M SCREWED.

Appreciate the card.But Heaven forbid if you have a simple question,and have to call the # for customer support. I can rarely understand their accents,and if by chance I can their response is scripted,which is no help.You cant explain to them the issue,and converse.There needs to be a plain English speaking dedicated line.I have never had an issue resolved by speaking to them.

I have been attempting to purchase an item online for a while and I finally called. I had to call 3 times to be put on hold, the others I was disconnected. So I waited for a while and got a nice young man who tried to help me. They wouldn't let him release MY money so I can purchase something for $14.99. I have plenty of money in my account to cover it. I am SO ANGRY!!! Of course I couldn't get him to say "I can't help you". I have several other charges that have been denied, as well, so I brought that up. I do believe I am going to take everything out and open a real account somewhere else!.I just have to wait for all my commitments to go through for the month.
