I am a repeat customer. Which means, yes, my experience of the company is good enough that I am willing to do business with them more than once. First, the positive: I absolutely LOVE the clothes. The clothes are beautiful! They are comfortable, come in many sizes, and whenever I wear clothing sourced from Urban Modesty, I get so many compliments. I have yet to be unpleasantly surprised to find, upon opening my package, that what is inside is shoddy or unflattering. So far I have purchased several abayas, several maxi dresses, three business suits, and two jumpsuits, and they're all gorgeous, figure-flattering, and very well-made. I have also ordered some hijabs from Urban Modesty, and they're beautiful... including the free hijabs the company sometimes randomly tucks into my order. Pricing is often discounted nicely due to the fact that there is a sale of some kind going on more often than not. That's the good. Unfortunately, there are some negative aspects of doing business with Urban Modesty, and this is why I'm giving them three stars. Ordering is fairly smooth, but fulfillment of the order is consistently chaotic. There are other reviews here that talk about long turnaround times, sizes being wrong, entire orders being wrong or not being delivered at all... regrettably, these criticisms are on the mark. I have no idea what goes on in the fulfillment center, but I think there must be an off-site warehouse where clothing ordered on the internet is processed, and it is separate from the store in NYC. The customers who shop at the store rave about personal service, the internet customers mostly complain about things going horribly wrong, and that to me indicates there is probably an off-site warehouse that messes up the orders. When I shop online at Urban Modesty, I put in my order, and wait for it to arrive, which is usually within a week of ordering but might take two or even three weeks; will I open the package and find that my clothing matches what I actually ordered? Only Allah knows. My first order was a smooth, perfect experience. My second order was mostly canceled, about a week and a half after I placed it (never order near Black Friday, orders placed WILL exceed available stock) but I was given store credit, which I used. By the time I placed my third order I had received notification that the replacement order I had made for the second order was mostly canceled except for a single abaya, so I used store credits to place a fourth order. The abaya from the store credit order never arrived at all. BUT THEN I got a random package that was probably someone else's order, and I held onto the clothing for a little while, waiting to hear back from Urban Modesty. After more than a week of hearing nothing, I cut the tags off the randomly delivered clothing that someone else had probably ordered, and it all fit me, so I wound up keeping it. (I hope the person who received my package likes the frilly tiered abaya that was in it, since I absolutely love the bedazzled satin abaya and the maroon maxi dress/cardigan that was in mine...) My next order went mostly smoothly, although the XL taupe latticed abaya I'd ordered was the same style, wrong colour (rusty brown) on arrival, and the black latticed abaya I'd ordered was not even in the package, although a black latticed abaya was in that earlier random second package, in a medium size that still actually fit me perfectly so maybe don't go by the provided sizing charts? I placed a new order recently (it is now late December) because I wanted some business suits for a new job that will have me in an office rather than telecommuting. The free hijab was missing, one of the "hijazzles" (seriously bejeweled chiffon hijabs) is still pending delivery, probably forever, and the beaded jersey hijab was the wrong color, but the clothing was 100% what I ordered. All this gave me points to redeem, so I placed another order, consisting of two maxi dresses (gorgeous, and exactly the dresses I'd ordered; one was a size medium rather than my size XL, but surprisingly, it fit me perfectly) and a second attempt at the beaded jersey hijab I'd ordered earlier. Package arrived less than a week after I placed the order, came with a beaded jersey hijab in the wrong shade yet again, but there was a free hijab in a caramel hue that was the shade of the beaded jersey hijab I'd originally wanted. Okay, fine. To sum up: ordering is easy, and you can score some really good deals, but fulfillment is a total roulette game! If you shop online, rather than in a store, try to find the merch on eBay or Poshmark. Also: Urban Modesty is a small Muslim-owned business, which is good, but has some items made in China. YIKES. Pray for our captive Uighyur brothers and sisters who were forced to sew them. I hope the store finds a new labour source.

For your comment "Also: Urban Modesty is a small Muslim-owned business, which is good, but has some items made in China. YIKES. Pray for our captive Uighyur brothers and sisters who were forced to sew them. I hope the store finds a new labour source." This is a real stretch with no basis. We know our factories very well and make sure no forced labor is used. Please do not speculate. Shien on the other hand is known to have forced labor issues. Please speak to the Muslims who shop there.

The girl that works there who wore a brown hijab and a plaid sweater was so nice and so sweet she gave me a free pants and she was very kind and accommodating and I love this store I would say they have the best abayas and I can find causal things to wear as well so I would definitely recommend this place!

I’m convinced whoever runs urban modesty’s PR wants their downfall bcz i was so confused as to why cheap looking dresses and materials cost so much, then I bought a couple and ohh my goddddd the dresses are actually much more elegant in person. The materials are also good. They should get a better media team.
