Kept $335 for speed they can't provide, then bounced my check to the State Department
I paid $709.56 on June 12, 2026 for their rush passport service after being led to expect a passport in about a week. The U.S. State Department's own website - the very page this company cites as proof of legitimacy - says courier companies "won't get your passport processed faster than you can on your own." Their own Terms & Conditions state "United Passport is NOT an Authorized Passport Carrier Service," yet in emails to me they claimed to be "registered by the government" and "an approved courier by the Department of State" able to get passports "within 1 day." After I submitted my application directly at a government acceptance facility (free to do - they add nothing), they refunded only $374.55 and kept $335.01, including a fee to "lock in a spot" for a courier visit they knew would never happen. Worse: they quietly placed a stop payment on the $242.05 check they had prepared to the U.S. Department of State - a check they knew in writing was already inside my submitted application. It bounced, and I received a federal debt-collection letter threatening to invalidate my passport. They then claimed in writing that I had requested the stop payment (I never did) and demanded another $394.55 via a payment link to "fix" the problem they created. My written refund demand was refused. I have filed complaints with the FTC, the Florida Attorney General, and the BBB, with the full email record. Apply directly at travel.state.gov or your local acceptance facility - same speed, none of this.
