Extremely disappointing experience with United Airlines. Our trip started with a significant delay on the domestic flight , which caused us to miss our international Lufthansa connection and completely disrupted our itinerary. United rebooked us on a much longer route, turning what should have been a normal journey into nearly 40 hours of travel. The disruption became worse when we arrived at the hotel arranged by United, only to discover that despite having a confirmed reservation, the hotel was overbooked and refused check-in. After spending around 2–3 additional hours late at night trying to find another hotel and arrange transportation, we finally checked in around 2:30–3:00 AM with almost no time to rest before the next flight. This was especially difficult because my son was still recovering from big surgery. Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. After finally arriving in Cairo, all checked baggage was missing following the re-routing and remained delayed for approximately one week. Overall, this was not simply a delayed flight — it became a physically exhausting, stressful, and poorly handled travel experience involving missed connections, failed accommodation arrangements, prolonged overnight disruption, and delayed baggage. I appreciate that some compensation was offered, but the overall handling of this situation did not reflect the seriousness of what my family experienced. I sincerely hope United Airlines improves communication, disruption management, and care for passengers facing exceptional circumstances.

We are Star Alliance 35k so we qualify for two free checked bags each and a weight limit of 32kg United did not honour their obligations We had to pay for the 2nd bag and pay for the weight Nor did they honour our Air Canada lunge access passes.

I never encountered racism with an airline until I flew on United. The luggage drop off person was extremely unfriendly to start with then insisted my luggage is over weight by 2 Ibs despite me checking it multiple times before checking in. Bear in mind I was travelling with my Girlfriend whom I have checked her luggage as well but her luggage was ok. I removed only a t shirt out of my luggage and went to another land crew member and it was fine. I guess my T shirt weighted 2 pounds or likely he didn’t like my skin tone compared to my Caucasian GF.

Totally disgusting attitude! We suffered a total of over 4 hours delay recently on our flight from San Francisco to Vegas which ate into our holiday! At the moment they have totally refused any form of compensation after I declined their original offer of a $50 credit which I have no use for as we live in the UK! I will adjust the review accordingly once they accept responsibility and do the right thing. One of the staff on our flight was also rude but I will refrain from further details until this matter is closed.

No surprise to see poor ratings for UA. My recent trip this week was a perfect validation. In business class isle seat the pilot comes to tell me that over the course of the flight he and his 4 colleagues will be rotating into the window seat next to me so unfortunately I will not be getting a good night sleep. It was a night flight and I was shocked at his admission that there would be no way to prevent this. 9 hour flight and indeed I was asked to move the seat to upright position 13 times … joke .. why sell the seat if that was the airline intent .. greedy commercial gain at the expense of a customer … 20 years in the air more than I would like .. never have I had such BS

Feeling nostalgic? Want to take a trip back to 1996 when AOL dial up was the norm? Look no further than the United Airlines website. What can easily be accomplished in minutes on Kayak.com and other travel websites takes quadruple that time on United.com. A complete joke.

OMG—where do I even begin? What was supposed to be a simple 9-hour flight from Frankfurt to Chicago turned into a 3-day nightmare of incompetence, silence, and straight-up disrespect. Oslo to Frankfurt? Flawless. After that, everything collapsed. We reached Chicago airspace… and then spent an hour circling like no one knew what they were doing. No explanation. No updates. Nothing. Then suddenly, the screens switch to Detroit. That’s how we find out we’re being diverted—through a screen. When people finally asked, the answer? “Refueling.” Mid-flight diversion, and that’s the best you’ve got? We land in Detroit nearly 2 hours late—still no communication. Then we sit. And sit. And sit. Three hours on the plane, being fed the same empty promise: “We’ll depart soon.” Next announcement? Not departure. Not clarity. Just vague nonsense about a “gate connection.” Confusion everywhere, zero answers. Then as we’re deplaning—boom. Notification: flight canceled. Reason? Crew ran out of legal flying hours. So this entire disaster was predictable—and still completely mismanaged. It gets worse. We’re pushed through customs and then left waiting 2 hours for luggage because the airport apparently isn’t equipped to handle international arrivals. How is that even possible? Finally reach United customer service—only to be met with rudeness and indifference. No hotel. No assistance. No accountability. Just “come back in the morning.” So at 4AM, exhausted and stranded, most of us end up sleeping on the airport floor like we’re invisible. Morning comes. New day, same chaos. No gate info. No updates. Staff literally telling us to “walk around and figure it out.” Eventually we’re told to go to gate D9. So we wait. 11:45 passes—nothing. Then: “We’re waiting for pilots.” Hours go by. Pilots arrive. Then suddenly—new excuses. Missing crew. Missing parts. Constant lies, constant delays. At 6PM—after another full day of this circus—we finally board. And the luggage? We were told it was already on the plane. That was a lie too. Mid-flight, we’re informed it’ll arrive on a different aircraft—because they “didn’t have equipment” to load it earlier. We land in Chicago. Guess what? Luggage plane hasn’t even left yet. Another 5-hour wait at O’Hare. I finally get my bag at 1AM Tuesday. So a “no-brainer” 9-hour flight that should’ve ended Sunday afternoon dragged into Tuesday morning—complete with lost hotel night, wasted car rental, zero compensation, and a complete lack of basic human decency. This wasn’t just bad service. This was systemic failure at every single step. Easily the worst travel experience I’ve ever had. BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER, I WISH YOU GO TO BANKRUPTCY
