United Airlines: What a Bitter Disappointment
For over 30 years, first as a consultant and later as a VP with Viacom, my only requirement was that I fly on United. Flying only in the U.S., I flew United so often that I was one of the first women to gain Premier Status when it was first implemented. I was a proud and loyal customer of United Airlines. In recent years, I rarely fly and had not flown United in years. I flew from California on Delta as its schedule fit my tight schedule. The flight was flawless, the flight crew upbeat and accommodating, the seats generous and comfortable, and coffee came with packets of real diary creamer. What a delight and pleasure and what a stark difference with my United Airlines experience! The planes’ interiors are tight and grubby, the snack service begrudging, the United personnel grumpy. The whole experience was bottom, discount basement. Purchasing my ticket on Delta was easy and quick. Even with my extensive experience with apps, United’s app is confusing and bulky as well as frustrating. What a bitter disappointment after being so thrilled to finally be flying United again. It is so heart breaking to discover the level to which United has fallen. I had to gate check my carryon bag. I have no expectation of its waiting for me as I deplane or that I shall ever see it or its contents again. Goodbye, United. Hello, Delta.
