This was a custom tour following more or less a traditional route to Colombian endemics. It exceeded my expectations. The larger vehicle provided was essential. Nick was knowledgable and effective and so were the talented local guides at some of the lodges. Colombia birding has changed a lot since I birded there in the mid-1970s without benefit of field guides or hummingbird feeders. I saw more new species than expected and renewed many acquaintances. Main lament, Nick nixed the Cock-of-Rock lek without asking. We pretty much wasted an afternoon going to Luisa's when we could have been at the lek. Good company, well organized, good accomodations.

The trip was extremely well executed. Nick was a terrific leader and we had excellent local guides. The accommodations were fine and the restaurants at which we ate well chosen. The vehicle we used was very conformable and the driver did a very good job. The itinerary was superb. I have no complaints about the trip.

Great trip; Fito Jones was an excellent guide and it helped that he was from Costa Rica. His connections with other local birders was also very helpful in getting us to see some great birds we might have otherwise missed. The clients were also a fun group of great birders.

The accomodations were fine. The food was very good. Our guide was excellent, well informed and personable; his recognition of birds was uncanny and usually instantaneous. We saw a lot of beautiful birds; the schedule was purposeful and energetic, without a lot of down time. The group was 1 or 2 persons larger than we had expected from he literature; even so, most group members saw each bird that was pointed out. The weather was cooperative, relatively dry with moderate temperatures except for the two colder days in the Andes, which we were prepared for. Insects were not a problem.

We've been with Tropical Birding on three great photographic adventures with a fourth one already planned. Would recommend them to anyone. All of their guides have been very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and very willing to share their expertise to anyone interested.

It gives me great pleasure to recommend tropical birding to anyone who is serious about seeing wildlife. As a photographer, I can tell anyone that Tropical Birding's trip description is EXACTLY what happens. I'm about to embark on my 4th trip and cannot wait. I know it will be fantastic!!!!

Great tour with Tropical Birding! Ben Knoot, the tour leader, was exceptional and the office staff of Katty, Desiree and Paola answered all our questions prior to the trip and helped coordinate things during the trip. I have two more trips planned with Tropical Birding and will comsider more!
