Items Found - No Contact Made - Now Lost
Travel pouch left on the plane. BA confirmed it was found and, as per procedure, handed to the Nice Airport ground handler. I completed a Troov lost-item report within an hour and received a reference number. No one contacted me, despite the pouch containing my contact details, home address and driving licence, so even aside from the Troov report, there were multiple ways to identify and reach me. When I returned to Nice Airport a month later, I went to Lost Property in person. Initially, I was told that all unclaimed items are transferred to the police after 30 days. After pushing them to actually check my case, it turned out they had received the pouch, had my lost-property report on file, but inexplicably transferred it to the police after just one week. I was told to email the manager to try to retrieve it. Three emails later, I have still received absolutely no response. I have no words to describe this level of customer service, particularly given that the pouch contained critically important and sensitive items including my house keys, driving licence, all my credit cards and other personal belongings, together with all the information necessary to contact me.
