Bill jumped 50%
I decided to go with Think Energy after my previous electric provider stopped offering the plan I had been on for 2 years. luckily, or so I thought, Think Energy offered the same exact plan I was on before. Same rate, same distributor, same everything. Imagine my shock when my bill jumped up 50% from the previous months bill. I thought how can this be, what is going on here, there must be some mistake. My rate should have been about 9.6 cents per kWh, but the rate I found myself paying was 14.7 cents per kWh. I call to see what the issue is, maybe there was a one time enrollment fee, something to make the numbers add up. I call and ask what the deal is, and I was told that my bill is based on my usage... WELL OF COURSE, WHO COULD HAVE FIGURED THAT OUT. I explained to the rep that I understood that if I fall in between 500 to 1000 kWh that my rate will be 9.6 cents, 4.2 of which will be the price of the electricity, and the TDSP charges should fall somewhere in between 3.6 - 5.5 cents per kWh. I asked how it is possible that my bill, which is normally $50 for about 500 kWh of usage and it had been for 2 years, should suddenly jump to $80. I was told my bill is what it is and there was really nothing I could do. Well i'm canceling my plan, paying my $45 termination fee, and going back to my previous electric provider who is now offering the same plan I was on before.
