I had pre-ordered the D2C exclusive for AFI’s “decemberunderground” with the alt cover and bonus 7”. I pre-ordered pretty much as soon as it was announced, as I have been dying for this record, it hasn’t been repressed in 20 years. When I saw that SoV was the only store to have it up at the time (so I thought), I decided to pre-order with them…. What a mistake, I should have researched further and gone to the artist site, that’s on me for going off an instagram ad. Anyways the point is, I pre-ordered immediately with them and was excited to receive my record. The pre-order release date comes around and I get my first dreaded email… “your order has been delayed”. Great, thanks for the heads up… for now. The SECOND release date comes around… “your order has been delayed and will ship on or before 8/7”. Great ANOTHER delay. Here we go… 8/8 arrives and I email the following: “ My order contained the AFI decemberunderground (w/ the 7") and I received an email about the delay. DO NOT CANCEL MY ORDER! I am emailing because in the last update, I was promised that my order would be shipped by or on 8/7/26, but I have not received any emails or updates on my order. Can I please get an update on my order?”. I was met with “ I apologize for the delay. Please allow 3 business days for us to contact you regarding this inquiry.” GREATTTTTT now I have to wait to even TALK to anyone… it gets worse. 2 days later 8/10, they decide to REFUND ME WITHOUT AN EXPLANATION, mind you ONLY for the AFI record, I should mention I purchased a random 7” as well to meet free shipping requirements. So they decided to refund my AFI record (I even said in a previous email NOT to cancel my order) AND still keep the money for the random single I got to get free shipping. I emailed back furiously asking why they had refunded me when I previously said do not cancel my order and was waiting for a response before any actions were taken. By the time my email was sent out I had FINALLY received an email explaining why it was refunded… it keeps getting worse Their reasoning for not being able to fulfill my order was because it was OUT OF STOCK???!!! MAKE THAT MAKE SENSE?!!!! HOW ON EARTH does someone who pre-orders a record with a store NOT HAVE THE RECORD IN STOCK FOR THE PERSON WHO PRE-ORDERED. Even worse… I checked there site AND ITS STILL CURRENTLY IN STOCK AS OF RIGHT NOW!! FLASE ADVERTISING AT ITS FINEST!!! They just LOVE to waste people’s time over at SoV I guess I had repeatedly asked for them to explain why or how this could even happen and they were refusing to fully explain. All they could say was “ As mentioned previously, the item is now out of stock … Inventory availability is subject to change and is beyond our control.” and nothing else. They couldn’t explain how a preorder wasn’t fulfilled, when preorders are meant to gather an exact number of how many copies are to be ordered. There was zero update for it and I kept emailing them trying to get an explanation or to either find a copy and send it to me ASAP or fully refund my order (meaning the extra 7” I got for free shipping). THIS WAS MET WITH SILENCE FOR 3 HOURS. They were going back and forth with me just fine around 12:50 and then silence. I emailed multiple times between then and 2:50. It wasn’t until 4 o’clock when someone FINALLY responded… It was Ashley the customer service manager. She tried apologizing for the “frustration and disappointment caused by the delay and the lack of update regarding your pre-order.” (so acknowledgment of both LACK OF COMMUNICATION and THAT IT WAS A PREORDER). It took her responding to finally be able to refund my full order after I had to ask twice. She said “ We also understand your concern that the item is still appear available on the website. Unfortunately, we are unable to use the current website availability to recreate or fulfill your canceled pre-order. We’ll share this feedback with the relevant team for review and update the website accordingly.” … explain to me how this makes ANY sense. And guess what SoV!!! IT STILL HASNT BEEN UPDATED AFTER 5 HOURS, YOU SCAMMERS. Long story short, I didn’t get my record. I was given no clear explanation. I had my time wasted. DO NOT preorder with SoV, or do any business with them, unless you want to deal with out of stock items, terrible customer service, unwanted refunds, AND PREORDERS THAT DONT RESERVE YOU A RECORD AT ALL WHILE ALSO SCAMMING NEW PEOPLE INTO BUYING IT BY KEEPING IT UP!!! Like what do you mean, you guys can’t just take the listing down??? GET YOUR S*** TOGETHER SOV

Failed to deliver. I ordered my daughter’s birthday gift over a month ago. I wasn’t even able to submit a help ticket until a month later. Then I got a dumb Note about them now being sold out! Really? You weren’t sold out a month ago! What really happened?

Sound of Vinyl (SOV) accepted an order from me for 8 records (4 single LPs, 2 double). Then proceeded to pack the order into a package designed for at most 4 records. Order arrived with malformed sleeve corners and some warping to the vinyls themselves. I reported to SOV via their website and was a met with indifference and a spate of Policy recitations instead of concern. SOV refused to review their own tracking system to see about the mistakes with this fulfillment. Instead they gaslighted me and insisted that I "prove" to them by taking my time. When I sent a video (.MOV) file showing the warping, they refused to open it. Do not buy from them - they are cheap operators with no commitment to quality fidelity records or effective customer service. They retain the old cynical record-label attitudes of the 1970s, with concern primarily for their own bank accounts.

Ordered 4 items. Not shipped week after week so I thought I'd see how many excuses they came up with... lots!!! Absolutely a useless company, they send pat answers for everything.. " thanks for your patience.." " sorry for the delay.." on and on. Stay away.. !!!

absolute joke of a company. I ordered my records when they had a huge sale around the holidays. The website mentioned that orders wouldn't ship until about a week later or something. fine. my friends ordered around the same time as me and they received an email saying that their orders were being processed/shipped/etc. I had nothing come through, so I went to the website which didn't have any kind of tracking, just an email for support. I reached out from the email I placed the order from and with an order number - my response from customer service was that i needed to provide my email. weird, but fine. I provide it. then nothing. just silence. every single time i follow up its just an automated response and then someone asking me to be patient. after WEEKS of this, I started a new thread and told them that I felt that their actions were retaliatory. finally, someone responds says there was some kind of processing error, they give me a new order number, even a receipt that has my order. great - maybe i get my stuff this time. nope. a week later, they said the SAME ERROR happened. and they are reprocessing it. no new order number or receipt this time. I have to ask. they give me an order number but nothing about shipping comes through. at this point, I'm 100% comfortable saying that these people are liars. I think they just hold your money and mess you with you until you cancel. they fullfill orders at random and hide behind an email to avoid accountability. This company is absolute garbage and should not be trusted. go pay full price somewhere, don't support this company.

Ordered on December 27, 2024. After 6 weeks of bullshit responses saying my order was being filled and shipping in a few days, I canceled my order. What a freaking joke!

Ordered items on Jan.2 asked twice for an update received BS email stating they are looking into it. Another site that takes your money knowing they do not actually have the item in stock. Went through the same BS with merchbar. Order number: SOV382956 - January 2, 2025 Will follow up with BBB and others next.

DO NOT ORDER. I placed my order with SOV almost three weeks ago. The items were supposed to ship on 1/1/25. However, I have not received them, or even an update on shipping. But, my biggest complaint is that SOV is not responding to my inquiries. I’ve reached out multiple times and have basically been ignored. They have my money, so I’ll likely have to get the credit card charges reversed. I’m surprised that Universal Music Group is jeopardizing their reputation with such TERRIBLE customer service. Buyer beware.
