A company that can't be trusted. I ordered a plant on Monday that had a guarantee to arrive by Mother's Day (that Sunday). It didn't leave their HQ until Wednesday and missed the delivery promise. It still hasn't arrived and their customer support isn't responding. Do not trust The Sill for anything!

Not at all what I had expected for the $
End of March I had ordered two star jasmine plants for 99.00 I received 2 Carolina Jasmine. That were not in the best of shape. I called customer service and spoke with a very nice person who agreed that that was not what I had ordered - I was told to keep the 1st delivery and was sent my original order. When they arrived they were not in the best of shape and I called to let them i know and was told to give them a little time to acclimate. Well it's now almost3 weeks since my delivery and the plants are worse than when they arrived. I am a very good gardener and plant propagated many many plants, trees and bushes with out problems. I had a gift certificate from my daughter for the sill and I was very excited to receive this. But when i saw the prices I as astounded as to how expensive they were. Nonetheless I used it and as of now to me and for her it was a waste of $. One star only because the person on the phone that I spoke with was very friendly and seemed concerned..

Never agsin
I received my delivery today. I purchased this using a credit plus additional funds. The credit was because a previous purchase died and it's replacement also died.
I am very disappointed with the quality of the products sold
The pot was delivered in 3 pieces. Numerous leaves are yellowing and will be dying off shortly.
I am VERY glad I did not send this as a gift to someone as I'd be embarrassed.
I've placed three orders sent to myself. Three chances for The Sill to make an impression. Three failures and disappointments. I will not be ordering again.
For the prices you charge, this is unacceptable.
I have not any, much less multiple or repeated, issues with other online nurseries or plant stores.

Took way longer than I had planned on
Took way longer than I had planned on. 10 days for an orchid in the mail isn’t ideal.

Total loss despite refund. Ongoing infestation weeks later.
I ordered 6 plants for over $400 in early December 2024. I've had to throw out 5 of them, and weeks later I'm still dealing with fungus gnat infestations that have spread to my other household plants. The one plant I managed to save is now rotting in multiple places due to pests.
What happened:
Multiple plants arrived with active fungus gnat infestations... adults flying out during unboxing, larvae visible in soil, and gnats of varying sizes caught on sticky traps (indicating active breeding cycles, not random bugs). These shipped in separate boxes, so this wasn't isolated to one batch.
Plants were also physically damaged: broken branches, torn leaves, and covered in dirt from being tossed around during shipping.
I immediately isolated everything and spent weeks on treatments (sticky traps, bottom watering to keep soil dry, constant monitoring). Despite all this, the gnats spread to my other household plants. The plant I thought I'd saved is now rotting.
The real cost:
The Sill refunded most of the purchase after I sent documentation, which I appreciate. But a refund doesn't come close to covering:
- Ongoing pest treatments for my entire home
- Weeks of time spent researching treatments, isolating plants, daily monitoring
- Risk to my other plants that are now infected despite my isolation efforts
- The Isabella planters they shipped don't even work properly (the drainage holes are raised somehow, so water pools around the edges instead of draining). Bad quality.
What I didn't know:
I researched extensively before ordering. Their online reviews were exceptional, which is why I was willing to pay premium prices.
Turns out The Sill closed all 12 of their physical stores in September 2024 after reporting millions in losses and switched entirely to shipping-only right before my order. The reviews I read were probably from when they had local delivery and stores where they could inspect plants before they went out. That company doesn't exist anymore.
Multiple boxes across different plant varieties all arrived infected, so this seems like a bigger problem with their current operations, not just bad luck.
What I learned:
I should've gone to a local nursery where I could inspect plants myself, avoid shipping damage, get healthier stock, and skip the mountains of packaging waste. Lesson learned the expensive way.
The refund doesn't undo the damage or the ongoing problems this caused. No one should have to deal with weeks of pest management in their home.

Got two amazing plants, now dead
Got two amazing plants. Carefully made sure before purchase that the plants would be able to thrive at my home. Great. Got the plants, had them out about a month. Overnight leaves dropped like flies. Followed more care instructions. One of the two plants started regrowth, then started to die off again. Paid for a longer appointment (had I known it would be 10 minutes I wouldn’t have). Received and followed more care instructions. Paris seemed to believe the conditions would be fine. Follow, follow, follow, both completely dead. About $200+ in plants, care, support, and potting needs gone in a month.
Thank you Sill!

Super sketchy company
I wish I had looked at these reviews before I purchased. The first red flag is they don't have Google reviews, or any reviews on their website, or the ability to leave them on their Facebook page active. When a company hides all their reviews, it's a surefire sign they're hiding bad business practices.
I ordered 6 plants. The first 4 arrived ok. They looked nice when I took them out of their boxes (which are HUGE and completely unnecessary and wasteful. Each plant came in a box that was 4 feet tall and 2 feet wide). One of them showed signs of damage and withering but it bounced back after I gave it TLC for a week.
The second order is where things went completely sideways. I purchased a Ruby Red Ficus and a White Wizard Philodendron. I got a shipping notification on a Sunday. By the following Weds the carrier still hasn't received the package. Knowing their were live plants in the boxes waiting to be handed off, I contacted the company to ask what the delay was. They replied with a chatgpt written email the same day saying there was a "glitch with the tracking update" and the items would be arriving the next two following days seperately.
The next day I receive the white wizard. Dead in the box.
The day after I receive not a ruby red, but a plain green ficus.
Turns out the ruby red was sold out. So instead of just refunding me... They held onto my order for three days scrambling around trying to figure out how to cover up their mistake. Their idea of resolution was to try and do a bait and switch, giving me a plant that I can purchase for $7 from any grocery store instead of the $80 plant I paid for, thinking I would be too stupid to notice.
When I called them out on it, I got another chat gpt email admonishing me for not understanding that "people make mistakes".
This wasn't a mistake. It was intentional and with that intention, I turned around and used the rest of my plant budget and budget buying 8 more from their biggest competitor. All those plants arrived in simple/smart packaging, were less expensive even though they were rarer breeds, and arrived in beautiful healthy condition. The competitors name starts with "Peace". Order from them instead.
