The Pet Lab Please explain the ingredients in your product that have bad reviews. Methylparaben is used to preserve food and cosmetics. It is a fungicide and anti-bacterial agent, extending the shelf-life of a product. Methylparaben is quickly absorbed through the skin, and through the intestinal tract when used as a food preservative. There is a great deal of controversy surrounding its use, with many reports of dangerous side effects. It’s tetrasodium ETDA, made from ethylenediamine, formaldehyde—a known carcinogen according to the National Cancer Institute—and sodium cyanide (which is made from the toxic gas hydrogen cyanide). It gets worse. This ingredient is also a penetration enhancer. That means it breaks down the skin’s protective barrier, making it easier for other potentially harmful ingredients in the formula to sink deeper into your tissues and perhaps even into your bloodstream.

Hi Chris, Thank you for leaving us a review. We understand your skepticism. We do rely on extensive research on the safety and efficacy of the active ingredients and the interaction of the rest of the components of the formulation with such. Methylparaben is GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) per the FDA, and it is used as a preservative in food, drugs, and cosmetics. The amount used in the formula is very small, and it's safe to use. Similarly, Tetrasodium EDTA has shown to be safe and a very low-risk preservative, according to the FDA. Including this ingredient improves stability when exposed to air and prevents microbial growth. We hope this helps answer your concerns. Cheers! :)
