The test taking strategies were extremely useful and the content for my subject area was solid. I found the Quizlet flash cards and knowledge check exercises very helpful. Certification exams test a broad range of knowledge so it’s imperative to have some foundation of knowledge in your subject area. Test prep helps with identifying subject matter you want to be familiar with, application of concepts, and how to approach test questions and the testing process overall; but it cannot serve as a substitute for foundational knowledge. There were questions on my exam that were not necessarily directly presented in the test prep materials, but it was the prep that got me through approaching the questions in a way that allowed me to arrive at correct answers. I am a “career changer” with no teaching experience and no practical work experience in English Language Arts. I did take English Lit classes in college about 25 years ago now. I passed my certification exam on my first attempt!

I received a complimentary subscription to Learning Liaisons from my Texas Teachers program. I used it for the entire 30 day trial period studying TExES SPED 161 and Core Subjects 391. I didn't skip around, and completed each boot camp in its entirety. I took and passed on the FIRST try, my SPED 161 state certification on April 6th, 2024! I studied for 3 weeks, all while working as a paraprofessional. I used Dr. A's strategies for #noswimming and #nofishing. They work! I was 100% prepared for my exam. I would definitely recommend The Learning Liasions! I am in an alternative route teaching program and do not have a teaching educational degree. The information in the boot camps and the test taking strategies were super helpful and reduced my testing anxiety. I gain so much knowledge I didn’t have to be successful taking the MTTC exams I need. Bring able to go back through areas I was weaker in was a plus.

I tried several programs along with books and every time I went into testing I felt like I wasn't prepared and my scores showed. The Learning Liasions Math 4-8 and SPED k-12 were great sources for me. I Never learned anything to do with special ed coming into this course and of course math 4-8 I took around 26 years ago, and let's say I didnt remember much. I don't know, but the program works. You must be consistent with the studying, every DAY and put in hours. Any topics I didnt understand I went to YouTube and also put a ten pack of exams at the end from exam edge as extra practice. I got a 264 on both tests.
