Hi Don; We did agree to a credit on your next order which you did place. Our system doesn't automatically apply it and we need to have our customers just let us know to apply the credit on their current order in the Notes Section in the Shopping Cart just before placing the order. Our apologies for our somewhat manual system but we are looking into ways to automate this. In the meantime, we have already notified you that we processed a refund for the specified amount yesterday. Thanks for the alert. We were more than happy to be notified so we could process what you were due accordingly. And thank you for your business!

However, we honestly did not receive an email from you on this end and this is the first we have heard of your fish that perished. Hello Gabriel; The best way to sex cichlids is by venting. Examination of the vent (the genital papilla), is the only certain means of determining cichlid gender. The vent can be found between the anal fin and the fish's anus. Mouth-brooding females will have a vent that is large and easily distinguished. There are also differences in color between males and females with males appearing darker. In our case, the cichlids chosen for your order were vented and were females. They were also brighter in color as females naturally appear when compared to the males we have in stock. We hope this explanation provides you with the background on how we determine male vs female as we are often asked to provide one or the other. With respect to the bag leaking, we triple bag our fish when packing to ensure they are hermetically sealed and arrive safely. Was the water leaking into one of the outer bags? This info would help us greatly if you can provide it. It's unusual for there to be a leaking situation but we do want to know when it occurs. Also, did the fish arrive healthy even though you noticed some leaking? Thanks for your feedback and thanks in advance for any info you can provide us.

Hi Crystal; We certainly want to look into this situation further. As you know, we quarantine all fish 24-48 hours prior to shipment and do a thorough inspection before packing/shipping. We had multiple orders for cichlids that were quarantined and shipped the same day as yours and did not observe any signs of disease or illness (ick or otherwise) on any of the cichlids shipped that day. We also received positive feedback from the other customers that received their cichlids the same day you did. So we need to look further into what happened in your situation and ask for further information if you are willing to provide it. (1) Can you give us a brief description of what you are calling "ick" on your cichlids...what did it look like and if possible provide photos? (2) What were the tank conditions and the acclimation process you followed? (3) Is it a community tank and if so, what are the general condition of the other fish in the tank? We know these are a lot of questions to answer, but we take our quality control process seriously and when we get this type of report on fish we shipped, we want to do a thorough analysis. At the end of the day we want to make sure we are providing healthy fish and have customers that are pleased with their overall experience and product they receive from us.
