I like the pump but there's a lot wrong with the company
I've had T1D for a very long time and been using insulin pumps since 2001. I've never previously had cause for complaint. I've been using a Tandem T:Slim since Jan 23 - I was persuaded by the Control IQ tech, but only managed to get that this year. - Control IQ mostly works brilliantly for me, and recent tweaks I've made have improved it further. The pump has to be on the same side of my body as the sensor but then it is pretty reliable. Yesterday 99% TIR. - Quality of sensors and tubing feels much less good than with Medtronic. I've had more occlusions than with any other pump, and I had to switch to steel cannulas which I hate. Tandem advised changing sites every 2 days which is a shocking waste of insulin, sets and money for the NHS. Poor quality of consumables also means that it restricts which insulins you can use. - cartridge process is ridiculously clunky - Supply has been more unreliable than at any point in the last 25 years which is scary. - The transition from Air Liquide to Tandem has been shockingly bad. They clearly hadn't lined up all the ducks before making the switch and have been unable to issue the normal quantity of consumables. - Customer service since the switch from Air Liquide, and with the above consumables issue is poor, and to me indicates issues at a process and corporate level. - - at no point has it been possible to have an online account to manage consumables orders. Medtronic had that over 10 years ago. It shouldn't be that difficult. I should be able to manage order frequency etc online rather than sending an email into the ether. - It is unlikely that I will renew with them later this year, which is a shame given that it is mostly a great little pump.
