Synchrony always likes to drop your credit limit or close your account without notice. They just dropped a limit on one account, which shows it over limit. This morning I discovered they had closed one of my accounts after having lowered the credit limit ($0 balance). I’m surprised they even have a one star review. I would give a -10 if possible. They are untrustworthy.

this is fraud and scan card
this is fraud and scan card, there is no interest free.
They lie to you with interest free for 1 year and after a year they charge you all the interest over the year.
DON'T be trapped into this scam, I would never get this and I would used my credit card. the only reason I got it they told me that it is interest free and now that I have trapped in paying large amount of interst. which now I have to find a free interst card to pay this BS debt and and get rid of it

I bought a new HVAC system in Jul 2025
I bought a new HVAC system in Jul 2025. That purchase went well and I paid it off before the promotional period ended. There was absolutely no problem with that purchase or paying it off.
In that process I received a synchrony project card. Their website lists that Sherwin-Williams paint accepts synchrony project card. Since I needed to have my house painted I contacted my local Sherwin-Williams store and they said yes they do accept the synchrony project card. So I went and bought the paint that I needed to paint the house. Sherwin-Williams computer prompted me for a PIN number for the card. The clerk at the Sherwin-Williams store manually entered the card number expiration date and the cvv and it's still prompted for a pin. I called synchrony and was told I did not need a pin. I ended up putting it on my American Express card.
This synchrony project card is completely useless to me. I do believe synchrony has no problem lying to their customers. It astounds me that any financial services company does not want the consumers who have the available credit to owe them money.

I have 2 accounts with them
I have 2 accounts with them, that they have blocked me out of, because they think that a payment I was doing was fraud, when I was just trying to buy a product online. They send a message that fraud can be happening, to press 1 to call back, I did, nothing happens. They make you go through an entire process of facial recognition with video and then scan your license id but if their system doesn’t scan correctly your barcode then you are screwed. Now I have to wait for them to send me a letter to be received within 7–10 days to gain access to my own card. I tried to use my passport to see if it would work and no, it has to be a drivers license or a green card. Talk to the representatives, no one can do anything about it. It just sucks overall. With the technology we have and they can’t figure it out to do it correctly so you don’t get block from your own account! It’s astounding.

I would give **0 stars if I could
I would give **0 stars if I could**.
Synchrony repeatedly withdrew my **entire credit card balance** directly from my bank account **without my authorization**—not once, but **multiple times in the same week**. This wasn't a scheduled payment that I forgot about; these were unexpected withdrawals that completely drained my account and caused overdraft fees.
When I contacted customer service, no one could explain **why this kept happening**. The only response I got was essentially, "Oops." Instead of immediately reversing the unauthorized withdrawals electronically, I was told the refund could **only** be sent by paper check, leaving my money tied up for days. Meanwhile, Synchrony refused to reimburse the overdraft fees that their mistake caused.
To make matters worse, the customer service representatives were unhelpful, dismissive, and seemed more interested in reading scripts than actually resolving the issue. I had to repeatedly explain the situation, received conflicting information, and left every call more frustrated than the last.
A financial institution handling people's money should have safeguards to prevent unauthorized withdrawals, clear explanations when something goes wrong, and the ability to immediately correct their own mistakes. Synchrony failed on all three.
I would strongly recommend thinking twice before opening a credit card with Synchrony. If they make an error involving your bank account, don't expect accountability, urgency, or competent customer service.

I refuse to let any credit card…
I refuse to let any credit card supplier charge me for a mailed statement, so I have not bought anything with a Synchrony related credit card!

Customer acts as referee between Merchant and Creditor.
I went to Maco to have my vehicle repaired after an accident. The shop posted advertisement stating; "Synchrony Bank promotion of $199 or more." Ad did not indicate the time to payoff promotion so I called Synchrony bank to inquire about Promotion terms. The agent advised the promotion terms were determined by the merchants. Spoke to sales agent at Maaco and they quoted. "Maaco does NOT determine promotion terms but Synchrony does." This is not a policy issue — it is a professional failure. Employees provide incorrect information, management takes no responsibility, and the customer pays the price. I have lost all trust in Synchrony Bank.

In November 2025
In November 2025, we used a 24-month “same as cash” plan from Synchrony Financial to purchase appliances at ABC Warehouse. While the store experience was fine, Synchrony suddenly raised our minimum payment from $34 to $175 in the fourth month, violating the advertised terms and exploiting consumers. This undisclosed, abrupt increase is predatory and misleading, showing a blatant disregard for transparency and consumer rights—practices shoppers should avoid when seeking financing.
