Wish I could give negative stars to this company. The more I learn about them the more I am dumbfounded they are still in business. Horrific customer service, predatory and scammy business practices. They’ve been sued more than once for these issues and lost, which says a lot. Personally, they have given me the run around on unfair late credit card payment fees (due to issues on their end), for a customer making more than the minimum payment every month, on time/no missed payments. I hope it was worth their copy and pasted fake reply to my complaint, because they’ve lost every customer in my family and I will make it my personal mission to ensure as many people as possible do not do business with them. Do yourself a favor, read these reviews and then go make sure your store credit card isn’t with Synchrony. If it is, pay it off and cancel it immediately. You’ll thank me later.

I got a credit card from Synchrony because of Guitar Center. I made some purchases and paid in time for the first year and then I did not purchase anything for 13 months. Between that time my credit score went from good to excellent and instead of them giving me more credit they decided all of a sudden to lower my credit. That was reported to the credit bureaus and ended up lowering my credit score. I called Synchrony asking them to review their un-called act against my credit score. I told them that if they feel like customers not buying is a way to measure the credit amount this should be mentioned when I first got the card and also before they do such act they should inform me, maybe warn me that I need to buy something. I only wanted them to bring my credit to what it was before and report the credit bureaus so that my credit score would go back. It took them a month going up in their scales of decision and finally I got a message from Taylor Wiley (Corporate Specialist, Consumer Relations): "We understand that the lowering of your credit line might be upsetting or inconvenient for you, and we regret we had to take this action, especially since you are a valued customer. Our position remains the same. We regret any frustration this matter may have caused. I would like to make it clear that this is not about the money or the points, this is about customer care. I took time to show them that I was frustrated with a decision and that they could review it to keep me as a customer. My credit with Synchrony was 5,000 and they lowered to 4,000. My overall credit with all my credit cards are more than 200,000 so 500 dollars makes no difference but I only want to give my business to people that care about it. Unfortunately I will have to stop buying from guitar center because it's their partner for financing. Hope that GC finds a bank that takes care of their customers as they do, then I can go back to them

I do not recommend anyone use this company!! I got two cards one is the synchrony home card, and the other is the synchrony care credit card. I work for the government so have a good income and pay on time. They do offer you the 0% Interest, but you have to be very careful to watch your account, so the payments are posted to the correct balances, so you don't end up paying the interest, then they lower your credit limit if they see you are not stupid and do watch it. They want to make money and they only make money off people they can take advantage of; they also give you very low credit limits and refuse to raise them. You may as well pay cash. Credit is overrated, it used to be that they gave people decent limits and were not stingy in raising the limits, like Kohls who have a good credit card. I think everyone should stop using credit completely and just pay with cash, then these users and the credit bureaus would all go under, the world was much better off before both were introduced into our economic system things have been bad ever since!!

I was approved for an account. Paid off EVERYTHING on my account, never made a late payment. Even made additional payments when I was able. Not even a few months after paying off my furniture, they CLOSED my account stating I’m inactive and re-running my credit without my approval. When in all reality I was going to purchase again, but there clearly needs to be time in between large purchases. This overall affects my full credit score and it’s completely unacceptable!!!

I realize my credit score is low but how can I approve my credit score if this ridiculous bank want approve me for certain credit cards. Their % rate is through the roof!! 25.99% synchrony bank the consumer is not stupid why not just say 30%! As*who**!! I’m going to hit every major review platform and ALL social media websites. Your customer service sucks to boot!! Go to CH*M* people then maybe banks will lose enough money and will learn how to treat their customers!! 😡

Synchrony is the consumer finance company behind a lot of store cards. Their trick is to advertise no-interest, deferred payments, which, in my two experiences (at Rooms-To-Go Furniture and Lowes), have always been scams. At Lowes, they offer 6-months/No Interest payments on large purchases with their card. The problem is, they just apply your next payments fully to the promo purchase and leave your other [non-promo] purchases hanging, which of course dings your credit. I think it's more incompetence than intention, because why would a finance company ruin their reputation like that? Now, I just use my other credit cards and throw away the Synchrony cards.

Uses their own credit score but does everything they can to dodge the question or responsibility. What a scummy company.

They have no regard for the law. They called me once to discuss my debt, over my car's speakers. No matter how much I told them "there's someone else in the car and you're not allowed to discuss my debt with them present." They kept going, talking over me. They call during work, despite how many times I've told them not to, and they've even contacted friends of mine over the same debt. Even worse, they got me to agree to pay them 300 bucks over the phone. But they took 1000. Very shady company. do not get into any business dealings with them whatsoever.
