Definitely positive experience! Got way more than what I expected! 1) The breathe and depth of materials / trainings delivered is much more comprehensive than what I learnt at business school; I realised what I learnt at business school was helpful but in a practical sense there are way more to learn and this is a really good place to get your knowledge brushed up without the prejudice of people (extremely intelligent and nice folks :) ) 2) You get to network and start building your own proprietary deal flows - this is an iterative process and should be ongoing if you want to enter VC; would say this is a fantastic place to network because there are global partner meetings (you get exposure of deal flows from US/EMEA/APAC) and also the alumni group is incredible.

I remember as an angel, I wanted to make a career out of angel investing, which is why I started Gamerforce Ventures. Didn't realize that it was much more difficult to raise a fund compared to my entrepreneur days. I joined Sutton Capital's Emerging Manager Program (Inaugural Cohort) run by Joel Palathinkal, Ph.D and a group of amazing LPs, and it opened the world about fund management to me (and my, it reminds me of my days as an entrepreneur). It's all about grit at the end of the day, and creating something your customers want. Thankful to the LP mentors and Joel for the program and I highly recommend anyone intending to start your own VC (whether you were an entrepreneur with exits under your belt or an investment banker tired from late stage companies and want to venture early) to join it. With gratitude, Lance.

Joel's SC Emerging Manager program is first class. Having spent time on the financial advisory side he does a phenomenal job at teaching the cohort about all stakeholders and aligning incentives, as well as the nitty gritty of getting it done. The most notable thing is the group of people is is able to get together as part of the cohort, and as mentors.

I was fortunate enough to attend a call between Sutton Capital’s Joel and Kalsoom Lakhani. As a university freshman that is interested in the VC world, VC has always seemed very intimidating. Yet, Joel covered topics in a really in-depth but approachable manner. As a mentor, Joel is truly dedicated always ready to provide advice. Personally, I found the call hugely insightful. I am definitely looking forward to join Sutton’s educational program. Definitely recommend!

Joel runs a first-class Emerging Manager Program (in addition to the myriad of other aids in the alternative capital space). Going through the program was an outstanding experience, nothing but praise for the material, the guest speakers, mock presentations, feedback from peers, and networking opportunities. I wholeheartedly recommend this course for emerging managers looking to get a jumpstart on their capital aspirations.

Really enjoyed the experience, guidance, and speakers that Sutton brought in as part of the Emerging Managers Program. Helped established the groundwork for us across a variety of things critical to raising a fund and setting up the right processes off the bat to build a successful platform. Would highly recommend the program to anyone who is thinking of starting a fund!

Joel’s Sutton Capital Emerging Manager program was amazing. Not only did he go over financial topics around portfolio construction and pitching, he brought a high caliber of LPs and emerging fund managers together. I learned a ton from my fellow classmates, who were also in a similar stage of building a venture firm as we were - which is to say - in the thick of it. Joel was super thoughtful & very responsive. I’m happy to say I’m a graduate of his program & I applaud his efforts to make these resources available to a very diverse ( underrepresented / not traditional paths ) group of individuals. Thanks for all you do, Joel!
