If I was able to give zero stars I would. My Dr who I have been with for 6 years moved from her own private practice to Sutter Health in Santa Barbara (Formerly Sansum). My Dr is still great but Sutter Health is horrible and I won’t be able to use her any longer. I am a cash pay patient and before her move, everything was always clear and upfront. My first visit to them, I ask how much it will be before visiting, they quote over the phone, $160. I ask for a Good faith estimate, response, “sorry we can’t do that”. I arrive, ask again for the estimate, we can’t do that. How much will it be $160. After the visit, I go to pay, how much? $160. Do I owe any more? No, can I get an itemized bill. No you’ll have to talk to billing. But I don’t owe anything more? Correct. 4 months later, I get a bill saying I owe $528 and that it’s going to collections. I call Sutter, they say yes that’s how much your owe. I explain what happen, their response, “did you really think it was only that much?” Rude, condescending, arrogant. Never sent me an itemized bill. Bill sent to collections. Bottom line, make them give it to you in writing. They can’t be trusted

Raynard ware was a nightmare person to deal with. Very condescending and short. He will talk down to you like he’s some sort of genius, but he reminds me more of a conman or fraud than anything. Don’t do business with this guy- his linked in is one of the biggest piles of AI slop I’ve ever seen

For most specialty care (MRI, gastrointestinal, etc.) you have to call to schedule an appointment, but you get put on hold for 30 minutes to an hour or more.

When this was Sansum Clinic, it was exceptional. Amazing. Truly the best. Ever since Sutter Health took over, everything has tanked. It is unbelievable that in 2026, this is a medical establishment you simply cannot call. You cannot reach anyone. There is absolutely no response. I have now been on hold for over TWO HOURS. Nobody picks up. They don’t even have an AI answering system that can actually help you. All you hear is, “Thank you for your patience. Press 2 if you want to continue waiting.” And then you keep waiting. If you don’t already have a way to contact a particular doctor through the online portal, there is simply NO WAY to contact that doctor. It doesn’t exist. My current doctor is leaving, and Sutter decided to move me to another doctor. They scheduled an appointment for me with this new doctor without my consent. I did not make this appointment, I did not okay it, and I did not agree to it. Now I need to cancel an appointment I never made in the first place, and I literally cannot cancel it. Nobody answers the phone, and because I have no connection to this new doctor through the portal, I cannot send them a message either. This is insane. Absolutely insane. And to be clear, this is not about the doctors or the quality of medical care. This is entirely about communication. Sutter has essentially eliminated it. I am so sad Sutter took over because Sansum was wonderful. Now, in 2026, they can make a medical appointment for you without your consent, and then give you literally no way to contact the office to cancel it. This is the worst medical communication system I have ever experienced. Absolutely insane.

When I have questions for any type of medical services, no response. My doctor retired, I have a new one he obviously doesn't even examine questions that I ask for anyone to answer. The support is terrible, in a couple cases my questions are not even answered after two weeks.

Ever since Sutter took over Sansum, the service has tanked. It takes days to finally receive a call back to speak with a human about medical questions. I have stayed on hold for over 2 hours before just giving up. They make you push "2" to keep holding every 2 minutes. It's so you give up and instead ask for a callback which has taken up to two days. It's absolutely ridiculous! It's not about patient care any longer, just pushing their profits. No wonder so many qualified doctors are leaving. I may need to find new doctors elsewhere

Have had very poor service medically and difficulty scheduling appointments. Sansum was taken over by Sutter and things have only gone downhill.

Called both the San Jose and Los Gatos Sutter Health to make an appt with a new PCP, since mine retired. Both places told me they do not accept Medicare B. Very disappointed that they are discriminating against anyone over 65 years old. Then called Stanford Health care and they said Medicare, no problem. They were so helpful and made an appt that day.
