Warranty denial inconsistent – HP , no visible damage
I have since found out who the bad actor is . I'm still not giving HP a good review Because of the effort I had to take to get Them to help me. It turns out that HP Sent my laptop to the vendor call Tech Nation. Tech Nation are the ones that most probably swap my SSD drive.'cause they have good motive. They sell parts as well as laptops. So they making money if they swap my SSD drive from HP do some Chinese knockoff. They then have a quality SSD that they can sell as parts. So in future I will buy another HP laptop but not from an online vendor. Other than Costco. The following is the initial review that I sent: my email to HP explains problem
Subject: Warranty denial inconsistent – HP ProBook 460 G11, SN 1H853726SN – CID vs “third‑party SSD”, no visible damage
I am requesting escalation of a warranty issue with my HP ProBook 460 G11 (serial number 1H853726SN).
Device and purchase details:
Model: HP ProBook 460 G11 (A1LH5UT)
Serial number: 1H853726SN
Purchase date: 2025‑11‑28
Place of purchase: Best Buy Marketplace – seller “Tech Nation” (order # 263011229)
Problem:
Shortly after trying to load the laptop (brand new, sealed), it began freezing on the Windows welcome screen. HP’s diagnostic tool stops in under two minutes with a memory/SSD error and shuts down.
I took the laptop to an HP service centre. HP then sent me a “Customer Induced Damage” (CID) notification dated 2026‑08‑28, stating:
Service Order: BXNR290701
Reason: Accidental Damage
Status: Not covered by warranty
Repair price quoted: $621.50
That email attached a photo of the laptop’s internals. In that photo, there is no visible damage (no cracks, bends, liquid marks, or impact damage).
After I questioned this, the service centre told me the issue was that the SSD is “third party,” and therefore the laptop is not under warranty.
Key facts:
I have never opened the laptop or replaced any components.
The laptop was sold to me as new and unmodified.
I did not cause any accidental damage, and the photo HP provided shows no visible damage.
HP’s own guidance states that installing or upgrading an SSD does not void warranty unless that upgrade caused the damage, and the system must be returned to its original configuration for warranty service. In my case, there was no upgrade by me; the laptop arrived in this condition.
The fact that HP first cited “Accidental Damage” (with a photo showing no visible damage) and then changed the reason to “third‑party SSD” suggests the initial assessment was incorrect. This appears to be a factory‑configuration or component defect that should be covered under HP’s standard limited warranty.
Request:
Please re‑evaluate this case under warranty and cancel the CID classification.
Escalate this to a supervisor or the warranty escalations team.
Provide a written explanation of the final decision, including:
Any policy document that states a third‑party SSD voids the entire laptop warranty when the device was sold new and unmodified, and Make and model of the subject SSD drive.
Evidence supporting the “Accidental Damage” claim beyond the attached photo (which shows no visible damage).
I can provide copies of the purchase invoice, service centre report, and the CID email if needed.
NB: I have tried dealing with your service support , but have only been given a total RUN AROUND.

Don't buy HP there is no support
Don't buy HP there is no support for Chromebook. Have spent 30 mins online with HP website trying to get an 800 number or a live agent or and email for some sort of support which all go to dead ends. Finally found a number after googling it. Took an hour on the phone to get a box to mail in for repair.
