Not impressed. Tried for 18 months, but went back to my old system
I tried. I really did. I wanted this to be awesome. I grew tired of the expensive cartridge razors. I was fine with the shaving performance; it was good, but tired of the cost. The promised made here were slick: inexpensive blades, better shave, less irritation. What’s not to like? Well, I followed all the instructions and never loved it. The handle had a nice heft, but was very short. Not great for those without small hands. It was fine, though. The shave was never as good as I got using Gillette fusion proglide 5. I’ve read people say otherwise, and that’s fine - but it wasn’t my experience. I got a consistently excellent shave using the fusion, and faster. Time in the morning, since I shave every single day, matters to me. I could shave several minutes faster using fusion over supply. And, the shave quality using the supply razor wasn’t as good. I found myself evaluating if I had important interactions that day or a need to have a longer-lasting clean shave later into the evening, and if so, I’d turn back to my fusion razor. I’d more frequently get a nick here or there or some irritation using the supply razor than when using the fusion. It wasn’t bad for irritation or nicks, just consistently not as good as with fusion. That was my experience. If it was just the first few weeks, or even month? Sure, just getting used to it. No, I kept trying for 18 months or more! I told myself the lower quality, slower shave (not bad, mind you, just not as good as fission and certainly not what it was hyped to be) was worth cheaper blades. But, was it? Were they really that much cheaper?? I mean, it’s not like they’re $0.10 each; they are still a dollar or more. I can get fusion blades at Costco for about $2.50 each, which is more than I’d like, but for a better quality shave, faster, and less irritating, I realized I was a chump for continuing to stick with supply. Next time I saw the fusion blades on sale at Costco, I bought more and never looked back. Another annoying part? With the $60 handle to get going, these cost me quite a bit more than if I had stuck with fusion. I’m happy for those that like the supply razor. Great for you! For those investigating, just know that not everyone has the stellar experience promised my supply. I would love it if I could get my money back, but that won’t happen after this long.
