The offers on straye.com look amazing. But like most companies, they're concerned more about the bottom line than their customers. I ordered 2 pairs of shoes struck by what looked like a fun option to receive a mystery pair. I don't skate but I like to have sturdy gym shoes and the reviews called them sturdier than vans. 1 pair mystery is 20, 2 pairs mystery is 15, 3 pairs mystery is free. I didn't need that many shoes but I figured at a discount it wouldn't be too bad. I bought 2 pairs of the cheapest at $30 (not on sale) shoes as they made it the best deal for the mystery pair. After making the purchase I noticed the mystery pair calculated as $25 ie: full price. I reached out to customer service who informed that the GOWERS shoe I purchased is "pre-discounted" and not eligible for the promotion. Even though when you view the GOWERS the promotion is offered. I let them know this is not mentioned anywhere on their site but have received no response as of yet. You live and learn I suppose and warn others.

So as usual a targeted Facebook add on my Facebook feed pops up for trainers. I buy a lot of trainers, so this is inevitable. I like to find a less popular sneaker, one you won't see on every foot in every bar or club. I'd pretty much exhausted Nike, Adidas and Converse at this point and avoid Vans as they're as common as air these days. So this advert for Straye shoes caught my attention. The look was not dissimilar to an old school Van crossed with a Converse. Now, having never heard of Straye, it ticked the box for being a non populist shoe (yes I'm a snob!) and they had some incredible looking footwear on the site. I was a bit wary, as when it comes to targeted adds, I always check trust pilot to make sure I'm not buying cheap tat, that takes a month to arrive from China but literally nobody has reviewed Straye previously. I took the plunge anyway and ordered a beautiful looking pair of grey Logan lo tops. I paid using PayPal to protect my purchase and waited. My shoes arrived by courier within 48 hours. I was not disappointed. They were every bit as beautiful in person as on the website. These are classy,well made shoes and highly recommended. I'll definitely be indulging my sneaker habit by ordering more Straye shoes very soon.
