Josh - the owner or manager of StorPlace - was wonderful when I called him to reserve the unit. He was fantastic to work with. However, when I arrived on May 30th to fill out the paperwork and get my keys, the man on duty around 5pm on 5/30 was a nightmare. I was sitting out front waiting on my moving truck to arrive behind me any minute - the move took longer than anticipated and they were running behind. Josh had mentioned to me that I could access my storage unit until 9pm so I thought we still had plenty of time to get everything in before closing. I was out front on a call with my Dad discussing the health of my stepmother while waiting on the moving truck. The man working inside saw me outside waiting and on my phone. At 5:30 exactly he exited and locked the door. I jumped out of my car and told him that I was waiting on my moving truck to move my stuff in and thought I had until 9pm. He said that he saw me on the phone and that he closes at 5:30 so he would not allow me to get my keys until they reopened in the morning. I told him that I was not aware that 5:30 was closing time, that I thought it was 9pm, and could he please just let me sign any papers to get the keys. The movers were working hourly and could not possibly bring all of my stuff back the next morning. He repeatedly said no despite my pleading and begging him to be reasonable. This begging and pleading with him went on from 5:30 - 5:33pm. It would have taken less time for him to simply let me in to sign the paperwork. I told him it was an honest mistake - that I genuinely thought the office closed at 9pm - and he told me that he didn't care and that he had sat there and watched me on the phone for 10 minutes knowing that I needed to get my keys and paperwork. I kept asking him to please call Josh and finally he did after about 3 minutes went by of this unpleasant back and forth. After he called someone - maybe Josh - he eventually let me sign the papers and gave me my keys, but the whole experience seemed unnecessarily stressful and that he was more interested in teaching me a lesson than simply being rational and understanding of an honest mistake.

We appreciated the storage unit and the rest of the staff, but the lady that checked us in I guess didn't think of her offensive negativity toward our home town team. Then she rattled off the rules so fast neither my husband nor I understood a word she said. All in all, everything else went well.

Great facilty but definitely on the very top end of the price spectrum.

I have had units in many places and have to say that the location is great! The facility is good and I have no problems with. The place is clean and that is what I am looking for to store my items. I do think that the staff is not near as friendly as Mallory Station and other places I have used in the past. I am here based on convenience! When you offer a deal online for 1/2 off the first months rent - you should give it - no exceptions!

I arrived on a Saturday at 10:20 am. The StorPlace office door was locked & nobody was inside. So I went to breakfast & came back in 30 minutes. Door still locked & nobody was inside. I picked up the phone outside the office door & someone in Customer Service answered. He contacted the manager & his assistant, who were "on their way".... When they let me inside, the manger told his asst to be sure & let me have the "10% off supplies" special, for my trouble. There was a sign in the office that said EVERYONE who rents a space there gets 10% off supplies... When I rented the storage space, I was charged a higher price than what is listed online... I returned the following Tuesday to find the office door locked again. There was a sign on the door that said they would return at 12:30. It was 1 pm... I'm not happy with their customer service. But I needed that storage unit because of the convenient location.

I think that the facilities are very nice, very secure, and very clean. The reason I give them an average rating is because they don't allow you to use your own lock and then they charge you an "administrative fee" (we all know this is shorthand in any business for "charging you for nothing"). I think charging you to earn your new business is ridiculous. And if they make you use the lock they provide, then they shouldn't charge the customer for it.

Hello Victoria I totally understand your frustration on fees; I don't like them as well when I am the buyer. The administration fee is very common in the self storage industry; in fact I do not know of any major storage company that does not charge one. When the industry first started, operators would require one's month's security deposit; however as time passed we found that people would rather pay us a fee then allow us to hold a deposit. Therefore the fee is in lieu of a deposit. Concerning the lock, we have found that the most effective security device by far is a cylinder lock which cannot be bolt cut open. Because the cylinder lock is not sold in stores and is designed to fit self storage doors, we sell it to our customers. Honestly it is well worth the protection. Save the lock after you move out for the next time you use self storage. Thank-you for your business, ed StorPlace Managing Partner
