startplaying.gamesReviews of startplaying.games

The concept is great. But they are so money hungry it's ridiculous. They will charge your players 10% extra AND charge you 15% for your sessions EVERY SESSION. All for essentially using their glorified calender system that requires 0 input from them once it's set up. They take 25% of what your players pay every session. Plus their refund and system is just any way to ensure they get paid, not the DM.

great idea. terrible UI. as a GM, i don't want to to have to go and manually schedule every game EVERY TIME we play. the game is active. it is scheduled as weekly. i have enough shit to worry about. do better. also, dogshit on a mobile device. do better. my players are more than happy to pay me outside of our service.

I am doing Dungeons & Dragons since about 2 years. See myself as average at it. Played around 20 full campaigns so far, mostly with friends, but wanted to try something new and my friends all went to vacation. This was my 3rd game on this PAID service. Got kicked out of the group 7 rounds in for literally being too good at it (according to GameMaster's own words), despite nothing in the description saying anything about it / requiring certain XP! Support refused me to refund me and instead told me to post a review, which I haven't done, because f them at this point. 2 Stars because generally the service worked (+1), but since you pay this is literally unacceptable and no action was ever taken against aforementioned GM. Today I saw that I was not the only one, see reddit [...] r/DnD/ [...] i_got_kicked_out_from_a_campaign_that_i_paid_for/ so I decided to write a review, warning others to be careful with this website!
