If we could give 10 stars we absolutely would. Anna and her team were amazing and helped us from start to finish with obtaining our D7 Visa's plus their service included finding an annual rental which we love and assisting us to put all of the necessary paperwork together for our interviews, which I might add, would have been quite intense if we had attempted this on our own. They laid it out in simple language and were always willing to take our calls at a moments notice. We think their services, considering what was involved, is very reasonable and we thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking to relocate abroad. Thank you Anna, we truly appreciate everything you have done for us.

StartAbroad has been the most incredible service for getting our family to Portugal on D7 visas. From advice, assistance with NIFs and bank accounts, arranging VFS appointments, overseeing our lease agreement and our regular zoom meetings (and so much more). When I made the decision to pursue a visa to relocate from the US to Portugal I fully intended to complete as much of the process myself as I could. After dozens of hours of research I saw just how complex and unpredictable the process would be. It seemed that each item on the visa checklist was a rabbit hole of additional steps fraught with pitfalls. I read many stories from people struggling with unexpected nuances of the process. Seeing how the simplest oversight could become costly, I concluded that I needed to get a professional on my side. After consultations with several international moving services, I chose StartAbroad because Anna was extremely well-versed in the process and how we would navigate it given my unique situation. Once we got started, I felt that Anna was with me every step of the way. Anna and her team’s efforts were key to finding me a wonderful place to live in Porto, ensuring a trouble-free application appointment, and securing the approval of my Visa! My engagement with StartAboard began positively because I felt that they were trustworthy, ethical people. Unfortunately, this didn’t turn out to be the case. The reason for engaging their services was that my girlfriend was determined to move to Portugal very quickly, and she was very persuasive for me to start the process as soon as possible (she’s from Europe, so it’s an easier and shorter process for her). The first step after engaging their service is to schedule your initial consultation call, but the next available time for a call was 10 days later, on December 23. Optimistically, I scheduled for December 23, but preparing for the holidays got in the way, so I had to cancel this initial call. During the holidays, we realized that this move was not in our best interest. Portugal is a beautiful country, but the timing isn’t right for us right now because of some family issues. When I sent the email to cancel the service, no services were rendered—not a single phone call, nothing. Despite this, they were only willing to provide a 30% refund, stating that this was their policy. However, upon reviewing this policy on their checkout page, it says nothing about keeping 70% of your money if you cancel, even if they don’t provide any services. If their position on cancellations where they have done ZERO work is that they will keep 70% of your money, they are not ethical people. I could understand a 10% or even 20% cancellation fee, but a 70% cancellation fee is outrageous! I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.

I worked with Zach and Anna and they provided all what I needed to get the D7 Portugal visa. Followed the recommendations and their valuable advice and all worked out. It was great to work with StarAbroad for the PT visa process. The organization of the material needed, and accuracy was on point. From the initial VSF application date to residency card in hand took 8 months.

Great moving-abroad support offered at a variety of support levels! In addition to being knowledgeable, thorough, and organized, Zach and Anna also have a solid network of locals in-country who they share for specific reasons. While we likely could have done it on our own, StartAbroad was 100% worth it because of 1- the extra peace of mind, 2- having them on call as a safety net, and 3- the process was much more streamlined!
