Premium-priced good, innovation, responsive to service issues.
Premium-priced, good, innovative products. Starky let itself down with poor and expensive after-sales service. I called their help line and was on hold for 25 minutes, only to be told to take your broken hearing aids to a dealer who will charge you to take them in. Then, to fix the unit or receiver costs $6-700. In addition, the process takes aprox 10 days... This industry needs Apple, Sony, or Bose to deliver premium products at an affordable price and with premium service.
* Update: Starky called me and apologized for the long wait time. The representative was very engaging, asked and listened to suggestions for improving their service and their product. It is very refreshing when a company takes customer feedback so seriously.

Pretty good improvements from the Thrive app
Once I got my new hearing aids, I was starting to get used to them the next day I got them, like what my audiologist said. But the only things I don’t like about them are that 1) my ear canals are skin sensitive bc of sensitive skin, I guess that’s why they itch the ear canals and 2) whenever I take them out of the charging case, I hate feeling the stickiness from my earwax lol, unlike the old pair of hearing aids. I really like how there’s no need to put the Otto ease otc medicine on these new hearing aids lol…..saves me time and less stress taking care of them lol
But at least these hearing aids and the app is a lot better than the old ones 🙌🙌

Thanks for sharing your feedback, Felicia. Did you know that we offer custom ear molds and shells in a variety of materials and venting options? It might be worthwhile to have a conversation with your hearing care provider to see if there's a change that can be made so that your ears stay comfy all day long.

I like my previous Starky hearing aids
I like my previous Starky hearing aids. These new ones with the wire that is attached to the end. It’s a pain in the neck, especially trying to put the left one in your ear. I have it stay. It seems always slip out other than that. They’re OK.

I have a set of Evolv AI CIC hearing…
I have a set of Evolv AI CIC hearing aids. Along with them I have a TV streamer, a Mini Remote Microphone, and a Remote Mic +.
The hearing aids themselves do a pretty good job. I'd give them a solid 5 stars. The accessories though...
The Evolv AI hearing aids are bluetooth capable and can pair with my mobile phone via bluetooth. Of the accessories, they all connect to the hearing aids via a Starkey protocol, and in the case of the mics, to my mobile phone via bluetooth.
When my hearing aids are connected via Bluetooth I can receive phone calls through them and listen to music, videos, and other media streamed via Bluetooth. A continuing problem though is that either the left side or the right side (more often the right) will drop out leaving an annoying mono broadcast. If streaming I can resolve it by stopping and resuming the streaming, sometimes. Other times I need to shut off and restart Bluetooth. In extremis I remove and repair the hearing aids. This is dangerous though since it is often difficult to pair the right hearing aid. Also, the mobile phone - hearing aid Bluetooth connection can't be used for any phone calls that don't come as regular phone calls. VOIP calls will ring in the hearing aids, but when picked up, it goes to the phone speaker.
The Remote Mic + has problems similar to the hearing aids in that one side or the other (usually right again) will drop out. Resolution is the same as the hearing aids, except that I can also factory reset the Remote Mic + and repair it with the hearing aids and the mobile phone. The Remote Mic + also passes VOIP phone calls through to the hearing aid, most of the time. Annoyingly it also drops out frequently leaving one unexpectedly trying to speak to the phone and listen to the speaker, which defeats the reason I'm trying to use the Remote Mic + to begin with.
When streaming music, videos, etc., there is no delay when starting the stream and I am listening to it via hearing aid - mobile phone hearing aid Bluetooth connection. If I listen using the Remote Mic + there is a delay of 4 to 5 seconds before I start hearing sound.
The Mini Mic I don't use. The Remote Mic + has all it's capabilities and more.
The TV Streamer should be a useful device, but the volume doesn't go up enough, so I miss a lot of the sound. I don't use it anymore.
I understand that the Evolv AI hearing aids have been eclipsed by new models, the Genesis hearing aids, so this review may not be relevant. Still, I needed to get it down somewhere. At times it's been so frustrating that I wanted to take a BMFH to the accessories. I haven't yet. But I've also had no success in finding a satisfactory solution to these problems. Any time I bring it up I'm directed to FAQs or the User manual. Really? If I'd found the answer there I wouldn't be asking. Directing me there for a second, third, fourth, and repetitive time doesn't make the answer that wasn't there before magically appear in subsequent iterations.
In summation, your hearing aids themselves are good. Their supporting accessories need work, as does the human support supporting it all.

Plastic earmolds are like rocks in your ears
First time hearing aid user (3 months). Hearing loss is mild to moderate in high ranges. Luckily I can get by with using the domes (earbuds) only because the hard plastic earmolds are like putting rocks in your ears. I will never wear them! Hearing aid specialist even ground them down some, but they are too uncomfortable to wear. Need a better material than hard plastic.

Hi Gail - Thanks for commenting. Custom earmolds are available in a variety of materials. We recommend reconnecting with your provider to see if a different earmold type might be more comfortable for you.
