My hearing aids sound so tinny! Can't understand anyone clarity is awful and always trying to adjust them.my audiologist very kind and tries to adjust them but still have problems. I'm lost on what to do.thanks

From the U.K. and just started trialling a pair of Genesis AI 24 CIC 312 aids. The size of these aids is massively disappointing. It’s very noticeable as soon as they are fitted into the ears that the physical size of them is way outside the normally accepted CIC class of aids. They are a hybrid size between CIC and ITC aids. They are very bulky and quite huge compared with any other CIC that has come on to the market in the last 10 years. They will be going straight back to the makers. They’re being misadvertised by Starkey as being discreet Completely IN Canal’ aids. They are not and Discreet is something they are certainly not! I have absolutely normal average/medium size ears. The face plate protrudes well outside the canal opening its visible beyond the Tragus (that makes it highly visible from any side view) Buyer Beware! They are being advertised as the worlds smallest wireless aids — that bit may be true— however they are not CIC - far from it and the wireless Bluetooth connection to their app (which is vital to make these aids work) is utterly abysmal. It continually loses connection. As many others have found- the Starkey version of wireless (Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) is an appalling and very frustrating waste of time! These aids are a triumph of smooth professional advertising hype over substance. Edit: Absolutely nothing wrong with the impressions, they were taken by a very experienced audiologist - so why have Starkey U.K. made these so huge? Are they supposed to be smaller? My last aides were Soundlens wireless - half the size of these! And also why do I keep losing the app/BT connection. If I go for a run, I wear ‘T’ shirt and shorts or trackers. My iphone 15 goes into a pocket. If I put it into a left pocket the right aid loses connection - and vice versa! Why is that? Edit: Nope. Let’s have it out in the public domain! Stop trying to hide! I’ve learnt from Starkey U.K. only this afternoon, that they fitted my aids without UP receivers in both aids as was ordered per my prescription due to there apparently being insufficient room to also fit the wireless and rechargeable components. It was another issue I also questioned, Unfortunately they forgot to divulge that information when they supplied the aids! It was only discovered by me due to having clear HA shells which made it obvious something was not as it should be, as one aid compared to the other was ‘clearly’ mostly empty space! They also lied with their “ lack of room” excuse for not supplying what was ordered —they forgot that the aids are 312 battery powered - not rechargeable! I’ll have to wait till Moday to find out why they supplied the aids with out telling anybody they were not as requested. Good job they had the clear shells that led to me uncovering this disgraceful cover up! Whichever way you look at it - from incompetent modelling that results in aids of a size which bear no resemblance to normally accepted CIC standards - to secretly supplying aids which were lacking in a very vital component that was ordered - to giving an utterly false explanations for doing so - it’s apparent there is something seriously wrong with quality control at the Starkey’s Cheshire U.K.factory. Next!? Edit 9/10/24. Now had confirmation that Starkey U.K. made an error in firstly saying there wasn’t sufficient room to fit a UP receiver in my right HA. They now admit there was! They then said that although there was sufficient room, they did not fit one because, in their judgement according to my supplied audiogram —- a P sized receiver was all that was required. Having been informed that they fitted a UP receiver in the aid for my LEFT ear which has nowhere near the loss of my right ear — they now say they have made an “error”. Not only no apologies for that ‘error’ —- but also NO apologies for giving out a bunch of false excuses for their shocking failures! What an utterly appalling state of affairs! I have now been informed by another audiologist that they are warning their clients that Starkey’s Wireless CIC is very bulky and is NOT a Completely In Canal aid as they have advertised! It’s a hybrid - a cross between ITC and CIC. U.K. Buyers Beware!

Not happy Jan, while my other hearing aids were great, would not recommend these to anyone, cracking, change of sound without me touching it and still can’t hear everything from people talking! I’ve had to use these because I payed so much for one hearing aid as I have trouble with the other ear with water coming out and can’t were one

On 12 January 2024, my hearing aids collapsed and I had no chance of a repair in time for my flight to a family wedding in Australia. The Starkey Genesis AI had just been launched and appeared to fit the bill. The audiologist fitted me up with her demo model but it was not able to connect to my new Samsung Galaxy A54 5G phone. The audiologist believed it was just down to the launch and would discuss it with the Starkey Sales Manager. On the above condition, I paid in full and was able to take the demo hearing aid with me to the wedding. I had two potential issues during my time in Australia. The first was the right hearing aid stopped charging. Starkey Australia was very helpful over the phone as the Genesis range had only just been launched over there. Starkey Australia advised the hearing aid charging was interchangeable but we tried it to no avail. Starkey Australia then advised we needed to see an audiologist in Sydney. I left my phone, hearing aids and charger with the receptionist who would see the audiologist between appointments. Told to come back in 30 minutes which we did, to be greeted by the audiologist who advised all was working. When I asked what she had done she advised she had turned my phone off and back on. I did not argue as I was grateful I had a working charger in time for the wedding. However, I had already turned my phone off and on several times. You can make your own mind up over that. When we returned to the accommodation the end fitting was in the charger unit but the wires of the USB cable were detached. Fortunately, the USB cable for my Samsung Galaxy A54 phone fitted so I was able to charge the hearing aids. I found the Starkey app. easy to use but found I was using it far more often than I expected. The ideal setting would only last a short time, particularly in the outside environment. The speech enhances section did not cope with the higher pitch Australian ladies nor their volume. When I tried the setting to reduce background noise, I found it reduced the clarity of speech as well. I wonder if the above issues were partly due to not having my hearing aids as opposed to demos. On returning to the UK I looked forward to discussing with my audiologist, however, She had been in discussion with the Starkey Area Sales Manager who advised that the Genesis hearing aid was not able to receive telephone calls from the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G phone and no current plans by Starkey to change the situation. The Galaxy A54 5G phone is a “Which” best buy and being 5G capable a recent new model. As the hearing aid was not able to receive telephone calls this is the basic requirement for me, as I believe many others, there could not be a sale. All credit to Clean Hearing of Harboune, they offered a full refund in the circumstances before I asked. It is disappointing that a product that has the potential to exceed customers' expectations falls at the first hurdle. My advice to anybody needing to purchase hearing aids is to check they are compatible with your phone first before you part with any money.

My Livio AI in the ear aids work very well. I am happy with them. My beef is that they are made from a very brittle form of plastic so the shells break open if they fall onto a tiled floor. My l/h aid was not a secure fit and fell out 3 times before breaking. This was fixed by my supplier foc; (thank you), then the r/h aid fell off my desk 30 inches once onto hard tiles and shattered, this repair I paid for £150. They are just not strong enough. They need to be made from tougher material Carbon Fibre maybe?

I will never return to Uhring's Hearing and Balance, and I will never buy Starkey brand again. This is why. 1.One of the selling points was blue tooth. When I returned and complained that I couldn't connect, I was told, "Oh that's only on Apple"! 2.With later use I discovered the protruding function button on the ITE aid snags on headphones, bicycle or motorcycle helmet, even on a hat, changing the setting or pulling the aid out of my ear. No response was given to that complaint. 3.When I complained that S sounds come through as hsssss, after an adjustment I was told, "You'll get used to it." After several weeks of trying to get used to the annoying hiss, I discovered also that the sound quality was so bad I couldn't identify who was talking to me when my back was turned. This after 3 return visits for adjustments. I was told any more visits would be an extra charge. Finally I paid out-of-pocket (elsewhere) to replace a lost, old hearing aid of another brand and have been happily using same ever since. The original cost was 1/2 the $5000 my insurance paid for the Starkey pieces of junk that now set on a dusty shelf. I will never return to Uhring's Hearing and Balance, and I will never buy Starkey brand again. ------------------------------------------------------------- I do appreciate the response from Starkey, giving me a telephone number to call. The representatives were very polite and informative in trying to resolve my issues.

I have tried level 3 of my Phantom aids and adjusting volume through my app as you have suggested but found very little difference. Anything else possible? I’d be glad to pay for an upgrade as I won’t be able to enjoy these for hunting,

I have the Starkey Livio going on 45 days now. I only have hearing loss in my right ear so I only need one hearing aid. The sound is good however I do get some feedback. I can’t hear people on phone calls even if I turn up the device. This is frustrating to say the least. Also, I have noticed that many times on a TV program, I can’t understand a person. If I turn up the TV and take my hearing aid out I can understand with my good ear. Turning up with the TV and leaving the aid in, I can’t hear. Lastly, connecting to the App on my phone takes forever. I have to tell people to wait a minute until I can adjust the sound, also frustrating. I don’t think Starkey is for me. I had Signia before and did not have these problems.
