Never Again
I had my floors redone which included the stairs. I removed the lift so the flooring guys could do the stairs. All the bolts and nuts were together and I got 4 guys to help me remove the lift as to not damage the equipment. I called the office fully expecting to have to pay for the lift to be reinstalled. What I got waa someone admonished me for not calling them before I removed the lift. Nevertheless they told me thry needed to send someone out to inspect the unit and it would cost me 300 dollars . Once they got here and inspected the unit, they seemed to be amazed that we lifted the lift in one section and they told me it would take 3 hours at $200. Per hour to reinstall the lift . Since it is older than 3 years old there is no by back. I read all of my paperwork and there was absolutely nothing that stated if I wanted to do some home improvement that includes moving the lift, I should consult or call them first. I dont remember ever having a worse customer experience. If you put one of these in your home, make sure you get permission or else you will just donate 300 dollars or more for absolutely nothing!!!
Response from Stannah Stairlifts USAJul 25, 2025
Hi Mr. Hamilton, Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed and appreciate the opportunity to provide some clarity. When you contacted us about reinstalling your stairlift after your flooring work, our team explained the inspection process and associated costs. During the multiple calls, you were understanding, and there was no disagreement about the pricing or the steps involved. For safety and proper performance, stairlifts should always be removed and reinstalled by trained Stannah technicians. This is outlined in the contract provided at the time of purchase. In your case because the lift was removed in one full piece, with the chair and carriage still attached to the rail. It significantly increases the risk to our technicians and requires more time to safely disassemble and reinstall the unit. That’s why the technician estimated three hours of labor for the job. We understand that delays can be frustrating, and we appreciate your patience as our team managed limited availability at the time of your request. We value all customer feedback and use it to improve communication and service. If you’d like to speak further, our team is available to assist. Sincerely, The Stannah Team
