The Stannah stairlifts themselves are extremely attractive - the colors blended into our home decor well, were nearly silent and required minimal holes in our wood stairs. Even the banisters could remain. But mostly we loved the Stannah people -whether the super friendly people answering the phone or the various installation and service people who came to our home, it had the energy of a friendly, family-owned operation. It is the kind of company I love to support. The transition to a stairlift was a hard decision for my independent mother, but the moment she took her first ride on the stairlift she was nearly in tears at the relief she felt at now having no stress in her home related to climbing stairs. The Stannah employee who was cheering on her first "trip" on the lift and patiently teaching her how to use it was a heartwarming relief to me too. A few days later they even came on the weekend at short notice to make a small repair, after which we had zero problems, I give Stannah 5 stars!

We bought two Stannah types: one for short straight staircase, and the other for a curved staircase. The 4 week wait for the installation of the curved staircase after the computer scanning of the existing staircase with a wide landing is well worth it . In operation the chair moves smoothly and without any delay in going from a slope to horizontal and in going through a 90 degree angle twice while traversing the landing. If you want quality and reliability, I recommend Stannah.
