I have found SPOT to be the easiest insurance company to work with. They stand behind their promises - quickly - and courteously. I called to see if I had entered a claim correctly, and the agent, while checking, asked how my pet, Yogi, was doing. Simple but caring. I would not hesitate to recommend SPOT. Woof!

It was a little relief in knowing I could be reimbursed for basic health maintenance for my little guy and it was SO SO easy to place my claim. I am very happy with SPOT!

I’m really so thankful I picked this up last fall when I did. My cat has always been pretty healthy, and I had previously dropped pet insurance because it felt like I was paying a lot for something I wasn’t using. I had a little more disposable income last fall and decided to sign up for it again after a friend suggested I look into it again - and I’m so glad I did. A few months into coverage, my cat had some very expensive vet visits for a severe food allergy. It was very very scary, and expensive - but being able to get a large chunk of the money spent back through Spot was such a relief. The costs of vet care can be scary, but they’re made a little less so by spot.

Spot pet insurance is a compassionate company. When my puppy was killed in June getting loose from me and running to a pickup truck driving down the street, they paid for at least half of her expenses getting cremated. Archer Veterinary Clinic in Lemont Illinois didn’t charge for the X-ray and gave us many items and locks of hair in special key chains.

I paid Spot $63.62 every month for my dog Benito (Whoodle) on their $10,000/80%/$250 plan with Gold Wellness. When I actually needed to use the insurance for a skin and growth condition, they denied the claim, calling it pre-existing. I appealed, and on October 6th they denied the appeal too, classifying the condition as permanently pre-existing. No path forward, no option to revisit, just a flat denial after months of collecting my premiums. I escalated by email the same day. Nothing came of it. The whole point of pet insurance is peace of mind that your pet will be covered when something comes up. Spot was happy to take my money every month, but when it came time to actually pay out, they found a reason not to. Labeling a condition "permanently pre-existing" means they will never cover it, no matter how long you stay enrolled. I cancelled and switched to Embrace, which costs less ($55.71/mo) and has a policy that reclassifies pre-existing conditions after 12 months symptom free. That is how a reasonable insurance company operates. If you are shopping for pet insurance, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Spot will collect your premiums reliably. Paying claims is another story.

I uploaded my documents, Spot secured medical records, and within 2 weeks the claim was processed and paid exactly as it should have been according to the plan that I purchased. This experience confirmed that I made the absolute right decision in choosing Spot to cover my 2 precious cats- they saved Punkins life.
