Determined Sperti to have the best quality and value
I read that reliable medical experiments have shown: Taking Vitamin D tablets does not protect against various diseases such as osteoporosis and heart attacks. At the same time, people with higher blood levels of Vitamin D especially from the sun or UVB have been shown to be protected from various diseases. The conclusion of what I read was that when you get your Vitamin D from the sun or UVB lights, you get more than just the Vitamin D.
I don't give my sources hoping you will do your own research. It looked to me that Sperti literature recommends food sources of Vitamin D, but for those who do not get enough from food, Sperti sells its Vitamin-D lamp. Sperti literature seems to me emphatic that Sperti does not provide medical information. From my own reading, the food sources of Vitamin D seem to be animals, insects, and not plants. And the current medical recommendations that I am hearing are to eat a plant-based diet and avoid animal-source foods such as meat and dairy, and even fowl. Avoid sugary foods such as soda pop, and even orange juice. Eat whole grains, not ground grains (i.e. bread). The thought of getting my Vitamin D from eating insects and worms sort of, well, turns my stomach. So really, you need to do your own research and form your own conclusions.
The reason I tell all this (above) is to explain what motivated me to search for a UVB lamp. I live in an area in which I would feel very uncomfortable and a little unsafe disrobing outdoors to get my Vitamin D from the sun. So, I sought a UVB lamp I can use in my private living quarters.
Sperti's UVB lamp looked to be just what I sought. It is compact, and comes with Sperti's claims that the lamp emphasizes UVB (the Vitamin D frequency), deemphasizes UVA (the tanning frequency), and does not emit significant UVC (the harmful frequency of ultra-violate).
I thought Sperti's products to be pricy. However, everything else I found that was less expensive did not look reliable. The cheaper lamps did not even claim to produce any UV. They were for "light therapy", not for Vitamin D. The higher priced lamps did claim to emit UVB sufficient to produce Vitamin D but were:
1. Impractical for me due to taking a lot of floor space.
2. More than twice the price Sperti was charging.
So, I bought the Sperti. My lamp arrived within a week.
I happen to have a UVB meter from a project I did years ago. So, I blew off the dust from my meter, and changed to fresh batteries. I measured the UVB from a regular LED light. The UVB was barely measurable an inch or two from the regular LED light.
Then, I put on the UV blocking eyewear that comes with the Sperti Vitamin D lamp and turned on the Sperti lamp. There's no waiting with this modern UVB lamp. It is on within 2 seconds and emits visible light so you can tell it is on. At Sperti's recommended distance of 15 inches from the lamp's grill, I measured the UVB. I don't remember my reading, but it was definitely emitting a lot of UVB. This lamp is doing its job!
I conclude: Based on my experience with the unit I bought, I definitely recommend the Sperti Vitamin D lamp as a reliable source of the Vitamin D producing frequency of UV, i.e. UVB.

I sent a review, but before I got it finished, my dog and cat messed with my computer, so never got it done!!! :-( Any way it is great, works good, and when I see my Dr next week and see what my Vit. level is then I will start using the lamp.

The machine itself works great, and I would definitely recommend for anyone who cannot get year-long sun exposure.
Would like to point out that Vitamin D activation is prevented by Glyphosate, since it disrupts the eNOS enzyme, so eat organic.
Also, it takes up to 48 hrs for the pre-vitamin D to be absorbed by the skin, therefore washing the exposed skin with soap will also reduce the vitamin D availability.

A+ but with a side effect
This lamp is awesome. D levels have increased and my mood has been at a all-time high. When it comes to what this lamp is supposed to do, it receives an A for that. I do want to note that I may be having a bit of sensitivity to it quite recently.
Originally I started at 3 minutes every other day, and gradually increased it to 5 minutes. But for some reason, I am starting to feel out of it right after I use it. Foggy, headache and just blah. I have dropped the time and now have spread out my days to every other 2 days. Yet, I’m still feeling the same way. The first day is the worst. The following days I am in cloud 9.
UVB is said to stimulate the production of natural Nitric Oxide from your skin. I am wondering if this is starting to build up in my system; hence the reaction to it. Is anyone else feeling this way? Maybe using the lamp before I eat, or literally out of the shower is intensifying it? If anyone has any input or advice on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you so much for sharing about your experience with our sunlamp! We have only heard about someone experiencing these types of side effects one other time, so we don't know for sure what would be causing it. I would recommend to ask for your doctor's opinion because they may know more about your body and what could be causing this sensitivity. Please keep us posted with any information you get!
