The content is there but it is mind numbingly boring. It's very expensive too and you can't download it to listen to offline. The promised direct access to Paul, access to native Spanish speakers and an ultra modern members area are pure bs, they don't exist. Also you constantly receive emails trying to sell more content. There are way better, cheaper options out there.

The marketing involves elements deception and comes with a strong whiff of bait-and-switch. The promotional material claims his basic course will take you to "conversational fluency," but soon after paying for the course I received an ad saying the course would only teach you how to construct sentences but would not provide you with sufficient vocabulary. For that vocabulary you need to pay for yet another course. I felt like a rube being taken for a ride by a con artist. Well, if "conversational fluency" doesn't imply adequate vocabulary, what then does it mean? I asked them that and told them I thought I might want a refund. I got it. Quickly and without question. Of course, at that time I'd only logged on to create an account after the purchase and hadn't yet taken even the first lesson. Maybe they felt they hadn't lost anything, but at least the refund was fast. Now, where do I go to learn Spanish? DuoLingo is tedious and repetitive.

Pauls courses are very well organized and typed!! (Thank god what a revolutionary idea -no unreadable scribble !) With Paul one hears the concept, and sees the concept written on the screen AT THE SAME TIME another revolutionary idea!!! Other rival courses in comparison are so amateurish -they present concepts using poor hand writing with markers nearly dry. I guess the other courses can not afford new markers. Also Paul does not stand in front of the white board to tick you off. Paul presents concepts using the chunk method gradually supplementing it with a lot of repetition so you slowly get the idea and know if you truly understand.

I’ve been trying to study Spanish for years! I’ve spent well over $1,500. on Spanish CD’s or downloaded from top companies. Paul explains everything so much better!! I actually enjoy studying! I highly recommend his lessons!!

Zero response, there is no personal attention from Paul. The price is reasonable for what you get but you will receive plenty of offers for additional content. I supplemented with the free you tube content and the comprehension course. I did not complete all nine lessons in the year even with daily practice. I have learned a lot and I would consider myself almost an intermediate speaker now, but when it comes to conversation I'm not even close to confident.

I highly recommend Spanish with Paul. Paul is an expat living in Mexico who has been speaking Spanish for many years. He teaches using the block method where one builds up to speaking in sentences by connecting blocks of vocabulary together. Now you may be thinking to yourself, "Isn't that what speaking a language is? Putting words together to make sentences?" Well, yes it is; however, most language learning programs or text books start by having you memorize many sentences without giving much context behind what each word means in the sentences. With the block method, you learn each individual word, what it means, and then start sticking them together. Most language learning programs do not teach this way (which is a shame). Paul also takes the time to explain grammar points so that you are aware of how sentences are structured. For instance, if you've grown up in the United States, you're sure to have heard the phrase "lo siento" in Spanish. It's translated to "I'm sorry" in English. This is actually not a direct translation. "Lo siento" literally means, "It, I feel" or "I feel it." So, us English speakers take it as, "I feel sorry that you feel that way. I feel it with you," which is simplified to, "I'm sorry." This is one of the type of things that Paul explains in the lessons. All lessons are video lessons, but he also provides a downloadable workbook so that you can practice reading. Currently there are three different subscription methods on the website. The first is Regular Member for $99.95 a year (139 lessons) and the other is Premium Member for $199.95 a year (150 lessons). There is also the new SWP Club for $299.95 but I am not sure what all this membership consists of. Returning members usually get a discount when they renew their subscription. Spanish with Paul has been the easiest and most effective way for me to learn Spanish. Currently, I am about 30% thru the course and I have learned so much that I actually decided to also purchase the Listening Comprehension Course. This course goes hand-in-hand with the lessons.

I am midway through the course Spanish with Paul.I do agree to a certain degree with other participants. I will tell you what i like, and then what i don't like. Likes: The way the course does it, they help you to remember the words. They have a learning technique that resembles Michel Thomas, Pimsleur, Paul Noble and the likes. If you faithfully go thru the sentences they supply, you are sort of conditioned to speak Spanish. It is straight forward. You get what you pay for. Spanish statements in chunks. What I don't like Consumers are required to finish the course in 1 year. What i refer to is the Premium course. It was initially offered at $199++. Then they send you an email to say that it is reduced to $99.So now we know where they are heading. There are mistakes here and there in the English spelling. Then i recall that they mentioned in their marketing words that there are mistakes in the wordings, and even then, their students still want them, and think that the words are useful. I have looked through the slides or presentation. Actually it's not too hard to correct and remove the spelling mistakes. It can be done. But they are just too lazy to do it. I asked them if the course comes with pdf notes. The impression that was given before i signed up, is that there are pdf notes. So i went in the course. I noticed that certain lessons, actually a minority of the lessons have pdf notes. So that means i have to complete the course and make sure I remember what i go through???Do i have a super memory? If you do not let me keep the video for the premium course, then at least give me a list of the words which we have gone through! Also, the emailing. Yes it's true they do not reply to email. I had some questions about some of the Spanish lessons being taught. i felt it was not clear. However, they simply did not want to answer my email. What i saw was, they selectively answer emails. Get what i mean? They answer emails that they think they have answers to. And then they choose to ignore some of the learning needs of the students.. So what is my score for them: 3/10 If they were willing to correct the spelling mistakes (which is not hard to correct!)Ensure that the language related questions were answered in a forum Provided PDF notes for everything that is taught. Kept their word that their Spanish teachers would answer the questions..(So far, there is no access to native speakers and Spanish teachers) I would have given then at least an 8 out of 10.Now can a person learn from this course? Definitely. But there are little bits of inconveniences along the way, which is the result of willful poor service. I had initially gone thru the course and hoped that my kids could go thru it. However, based on the abovementioned flaws...you would need to reconsider such an action. I appreciate this forum or comment section. And Spanish with Paul is sadly complacent. If only they would resolve these little issues, they would even be world class. However, they just choose the road that they are now taking. If its possible, i invite those who read these words to direct your friends to this website, and even copy (in context) the words I have written. Best is to direct them here to this website. Spanish with Paul needs to do something.
