This should say 3 1/2 stars. I enjoyed talking and working with Ryan. He was very considerate of my questions and my needs since we were working with an extended time period with our grant process. Ryan came through with every promise he extended down to the date of delivery. The problem was in the execution of the engineering. The experience we had this time trying to put our sound panels up was very difficult. We had to maneuver many things just to get the panels up so they looked nice. The quality control department was very quick to apologize and tried to work with us and that was very appreciated considering how far away we are from the plant. (many states away!) The amount of noise reduction in our areas is worth every struggle and all of the pain, but I will unfortunately have to think twice before using your services again because over 80 man hours to put up the 24 panels we received is far too much! I will need to be reassured of the quality that is for certain.

Product is great - but shipping on my $180 order was $90! They did try to cut it down and perhaps they had no options

Everything went smooth. The product was of good quality. The salesperson was knowledgeable and accessible. The sound has improved greatly.

The fabric wrapped panel received is ok, but don't really like the corners. I can see the cutting and gap where the fabric is wrapped. It's not a better edge compared to other one I've used before. However, the responses and help was great. Thank you for the sample.

I recently removed a nasty old piece of fiberglass type wool insulation from underneath the HVAC system in my HVAC closet in the house. Presumably it was some sort of sound absorbing material. Showed it to several people that work in the industry and none had a clue what it really was, other than old and gross looking. It had been there at least 15 years since I bought the house, most likely longer, and maybe even an originally installed piece of material glued to the subconrete floor (50 year old house). The air to the HVAC flows through three returns at floor level on three sides of HVAC closet wall. There is a 9" deep gap of space (36"w x32"l) from subconcrete floor to bottom of HVAC unit. When the system turned on it was loud in general. Once I removed the nasty piece of material the loudness grew in volume due to general echo reverberation and old nasty piece of some sort of sound absorbent material missing. After reading up online, speaking with various industry reps, reviewing HD and Lowes options (not good) etc., I stumbled across Ryan at SoundProofCow.com and purchased the Echo Absorber 2" x 2’ x 4’ thick acoustical panel. Ryan provided EXCELLENT customer service. And the product itself - IS GREAT!!!! While I still have some sound from the closet reverberation, the absorbent cotton material works wonderfully, is environmentally friendly, approved for use in (essentially) an open area behind my three returns, and very easy to work with. I used a bread knife with serrated edge to cut through it (at Ryan’s suggestion). At first I used a sawing back and forth motion, but it cut better with less fuss when using only one sawing motion in the same direction over and over. A single 2’ x 4’ piece EXACTLY covered my 36” x 32” space. Now, when my HVAC kicks on it is much quieter, normal level conversation can take place, the volume does not need to be turned up on TV or computer speakers, and I feel like I can stay in the same room for any of the above. This is a very good product for my needs and would strongly recommend it for sound absorption. ******* It works!!!! ********* Thank you Ryan and thank you SoundProofCow!!!

Lots of good information on soundproofing. Products are very competitive but shipping adds on a lot.

(box with Acoustic Cotton panels arrived the day after I ordered them - how did you do that?!) I'm using Acoustic Cotton to cut noise coming in open windows. (The neighborhood can get noisy. Local outdoor eating/drinking, fans on large buildings, helicopters ... all add up.) I have mounted the cotton panels on foamcore board and face them toward the open, bottom portion of the window leaving a couple inches for airflow. This solution with one layer cuts a LOT of the incoming noise. A simple experiment shows a double layer of the Acoustic cotton does noticeably better and I have adjusted my design to use two layers. I will be making a cap for this arrangement so that incoming airflow has to go through a "U" shape with all those surfaces covered with Acoustic Cotton.

My wife and I both work at home and I needed a way to soundproof my office. We didn't want any asbestos laden materials, decided on 100% natural cotton batting, which we found at soundproof cow. The material is just as described, we chose 4'x4'x1", which came in two days in a tall thin box, the batting is soft, like a big quilt and was rolled up inside. We were able to cut it with Fiskars Pro Titanium scissors (the best) and affix it to my door with a staple gun. Easy, and it seems to do a good job - no smell. The only complaint was the $40 shipping, I thought that was a bit excessive. Overall, we're satisfied with the product and the company.
